Blackberry charging prob

    Hi,

I got a Blackberry for work recently and it has been working fine. I normally use the regular plug charger to charge it. Today the battery went low before I could charge it and it say something like "battery too low for radio", and where it normally says EDGE or GPRS on the top right it just said OFF. Fair enough I thought thinking that it would resolve itself when charged.

The problem I have is that I got home and plugged it in - the little battery symbol on the top left changed as if charging (ie) I got the little zig zag symbol on the battery, however this only stayed for 2-3 seconds and then disappeared. Now it does not seem to be charging, it still says low battery, and my reception is at OFF.

I have tried turning it off a few times, taking out and reinserting the battery. The light is also on the plug charger so thats fine.

Any idea what the problem is?

    Cheers

I'd bet its a Blackberry Curve is it?
This is a very common fault in the Curve
You need to keep messing around with it and position the cable with pressure from different points, BUT, bring it back once you get a chance and look for a repair/replacement

By the way, once the battery level goes above 5%-10% it will allow radio use again. This is normal with a Blackberry. It runs right down and disables GSM service but you can still type up emails, use calendar, memo pad etc but just have no reception until its charged enough again.

As far as I know they can be charged using the USB slot on your pc either...

Strange thing is I have a SE P1 and it has a charging issue also. Leave the Blackberry software 'ON' and the phone will not charge from the mains or PC USB. I must turn the software 'OFF'

O2 in the UK pre-install blackberry software on the P1. I cant speak for other Network Providers.

This is correct, BUT, its in to the same miniusb port on the phone and its a faulty port on the phone thats his problem, so if it wont charge with mains, it wont charge with PC.

However, it *can* be charged using the brass contacts on the back if you use a Blackberry desktop stand.
