Did anyone read anything about the sketchy dealings of Mr.Declan Ganley of Libertas. There is alot of speculation about where he has received his funding for the No Vote campaign. Anyone any theories or any actual idea who this nay saying clown is?

    article about this:

Story about Mr.Ganley and his ties with US homeland security etc

Heres an article written by this Ganley fellow in 2003 about the EU constitution etc.
You might notice its more about the affect it will have on America etc rather than Europe.
Ganley on the EU constitution from 2003

people might starting screeching conspiracy theory, which i suppose is not a million miles off the mark. But this is one of those weird situations where both "conspiracies" contradict and if true negate each other.

    Any opinions?

I find it a bit suspect to be honest.

I've been hearing about the CIA funding the No campagin, sounds a bit like conspiracy theory to be honest, no real evidence.

Libertas is an American project, funded by some very right wing elements in the US. Their campaign is sensationalist and not very accurate. I'll be voting No despite them, for my own reasons, not because of them. I'm sorry to see groups like this operate here in Ireland, it amounts to disingenuous interference in internal Irish / European affairs IMO.

I've been wondering about who the hell Libertas actually are, what their goals are, etc... AFAIK they weren't around during any previous referendums.

The only logical conclusion is zomfg!!1 its a conspiracy!!q1!one

Libertas, Sinn Fein and the reilgous groups pushed me from a no vote to a Yes vote. I know I shouldnt be to be honest I trust the judgement of IBEC,the main political parties ect more than a group of right wing religous fundamentalists

 Is this the only reason you would vote yes? Not very impressive. Is there not something in those couple hundred pages of garbage that would make you vote yes? Just imagine there were no parties campaigning, tell me why you vote yes then.

You would not trust Sinn Fein who have nothing to gain at all from this, whilst you would put your trust in one of the most corrupt parties in Europe, Fianna Fail who would sell their own mothers back gardens to please their property friends.

Using the logic "do you want to vote the same way as Sinn Fein" is incredibly narrow minded.

I'm no supported of Sinn Fein but I am able to vote alongside them for different reasons. It amazes me the people who think Sinn Fein means they must automatically vote no.

    Open your mind slightly.

I trust Fine Gael. I have read the Commisions information on the treaty and really I think its alright. In this economic climate a NO vote is just going to alienate us from our biggest market, the EU. I also have other reasons but it would be very long winded and boring ect so Im just going to leave it

If SF were voting yes would you vote no?

I don't pay much attention to any of the parties but to vote the opposite of a party you dislike is stupid.

I never vote SF but will be voting no.

Your signature is silly to be honest. What is the relevance of Sinn Fein voting no?

I'm voting against my party here and voting no (alongside Sinn Fein) despite my lack of support for them.

I dislike most of the people voting no but I accept that they have different reasons for doing so. I'm not going to change my vote due to a few crackpots.

When the Dutch and French voted no on the same thing, they were not alienated. Why in the word would we be?

As I said to my local FG td who I voted for in the General Election, this is a crap treaty which is crap for Ireland. There is no benefit for us and I am disgusted that only Sinn Fein will represent the hundreds of thousands of people who will vote no. The big parties should stop telling their supporters what to do and start listening and representing their supporters.

    VOTE NO

    Lol, indymedia.

The OP showed that he himself believes this in the other thread. You should go have a look through the conspiracy forum if you're so happy to believe something after reading one article, you'll be full of new beliefs after that.

Yeah it's completely ridiculous. If this is his reason for voting Yes well...lets not get into it but the word sterilisation comes to mind.
