    I'm trying to figure out what to study for this.. It's my extra subject so I've kind of egnored it for a while.

    Anyhu , what are the predictions/assumptions for what will feature in the Higher level paper?

    Is there anything that is almost certain to come up?

    Elasticity is pretty definite
    Monopoly- esp the comparison between monopoly and perfect, and the mono/imperfect exporter diagram

    I'm planning on learning all micro, and hopefully for macr i'd be covered with banking/national income/int. trade

    Enterprise, Monopoly, terms of trade might be up. If you're short of time learn macro really well and that should cover you.

    hmm...

    Micro economics:
    Demand
    Costs of production
    Elasticity
    Monopoly(maybe mixed with oligopoly like last year they mixed P competition with imperfetct)

    you can bull**** your way through a lot of stuff as well. Just mention inflation and usually that covers you
    :pac:

    enterprise is fairly likely I think but it probably wont be a whole q, theres not all that much to ask. we might get a bit of land or something with it.

    I love Economics too.
    I got a C2 in the mocks with 100% Irish Waffle.

    I hate the short questions though.

    I reckon there might be a question similar to one that appeared on one of the mocks, where there was all the market structures in the one question or possibly an oligopoly/monoply combo.

    What kind of qs could they ask on "price discrimination"?

    i m planning to go over
    Market structures
    Elasticity
    Deman, Supply, Cost of production
    Possibly fop.. but probably not so wholly :(
    Int. trade
    National Income..
    Maybe a bit of Banking too..
    and then short qs

    Is that enough?

    Ps. does anybody have a summury of current affairs?

    i reckon reasons for irish recession
    i.e decline in the construction sector, fall in property market
    MNC's moving abroad (attractive corporation tax abroad)
    Economic downturn in america (main trade partner)

    anyone have anything else to add

    also something to do with banks and sub-prime lending would be quite topical

    other than that i'd put emphasis on monopoly and price discriminatio
    elasticity
    Micro 1
    National income

    About the recession thing, aren't the papers set in November or something? The economy hadn't really plummeted that much then.

    I agree though, topical things are most likely, possibly rising interest rates.

    How could they bring in sub-prime lending, like is it on the course really? Maybe include it in Money & Banking or something?

    no i think you have it pretty much covered maybe with MNC's moving abroad you could also mention cheap skilled workforces in places like India against the high cost of labour here.

    yeah the paper was made last year so i wouldn worry about the recent developments tbh. it seems that mon is a dead cert to come up with pc and pd is suppose to be in there to.imp.c wasnt up last year though. for the last 8 years either nat y or elasticity has been up.

    tips i got of my teacher
    -land
    -mon v pc
    -price discrim
    -nat y(circular flow of y)or elasticity(factors eff ped)
    -int trade
    -effects of investment in economy ? or was it gov eff of inv . not sure
    -thomas galbrit
    -eco dev and growth ( effects)

    forget the rest il be getting better predictions later. i wouldn take the above ones too seriously cause my teacher is an idiot although ... he seems to have the odd good prediction

    just a quick study tip someone might want i thought of this for functions of money and cannons of taxation and char of money

    functions of money = s.u.m.s
    s= standard for deffered payment

    u= unit of account

    m= medium of exchange

    s= store to value

    smiths cannons of taxation e.c.e.c economy convenience equality? certaintity...**** i cant remember if thats right

    char of money think ABLE... portable , divisable , recognisable , accepable , durable

    Captain!

    Yeah its fairly simple. In the mocks we had 8 A1s in our school. Not that it was marked easy or anything, its just an easy subject.

    Now saying this, I got 49% in the mocks...

    does anyone think these might come up
    -economic aims of the gov
    -adv/dis adv of economic growth/development
    -unemployment
    -costs of production

    if national income comes up i think there'll be a q. on the circular flow of income & the uses/limitations of national income statistics
