I'm just back from a few of these places:

Chiang Mai - Bow Chianmai House. Cheap, about €8 for a twin room with tv, a/c. Internet across the lane, 80c an hour. It's a 5 min tuktuk ride from the night market.

Bangkok - depends on how much you want to spend! Didi hotel on the Koh San Rd is supposed to be decent but we flashed it because we spent our last few days there. Stayed in the Royal Princess Hotel, was pricey but really nice.

Koh Phangnan - Suncliff is about 5 mins walk from the beach, it's full of little bungalows that we're pretty comfortable. Fridge, a/c etc, can't remember how much it was.
