From the youth team to the Premiership
    www.fcbarcelona.cat

Giovani Dos Santos is leaving FC Barcelona after six seasons in the club’s youth set-up and first team. The Mexican is set to try his luck in the English Premier League.

After just one season in Barça’s first team, Giovani is to join Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur and its Spanish manager Juande Ramos. The Mexican is determined to show that he can play in one of the world’s most competitive leagues

    Six seasons at the club

Giovani Dos Santos joined FC Barcelona in the 2002/03 season to play in its Under-14s first XI. He moved up through the rest of the youth set-up before reaching Barça B in the 2006-07 campaign and making the leap into the first team last season.

    Highs and lows

As a youth team player Giovani Dos Santos played in some very successful sides. The highlight was the League and Cup double achieved in the 2005-06 season with Alex Garcia’s Under-18s team which also featured Bojan, Marc Crosas and Sergio Busquets. The low point came the following year, when he was in the Barça B side that went down into the Third Division.

    First team record

Giovani played in 38 official games in his only season with the first team. Most of them (28) were in the League with the other ten split between 5 in the Champions League and 5 in the Spanish Cup. He scored a total of 4 goals, one in the Champions League against Stuttgart and a hat-trick against Murcia in his last game in a Barça shirt.
