Is anyone else going to this?

Or does anyone know much about Manchester?

Any recommendations of somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay for the weekend?

    Thanks! :p

I'm going. Been looking forward to it since I booked the tickets last year!!!!

Never been to Manchester and my girlfriend has booked our hotel so I don't even know where we're staying but I have a friend living over there so if he passes on any recommendations I'll post 'em.

    What night are you going?

there's a few cheap and cheerful places on portland street, think an ibis and a jurys inn and travelodge are all around there. fairly central and handy. enjoy the gig i'm going to see them in london, only a fortnight to go

Great band live. You'll like it. Are they playing in the Academy or Music Box? If it's the Academy it'll be great. There are 3 venues, 1 being the biggest and 3 being the smallest. It's part of the Manchester Uni's campus. Enjoy!

Was just recently at Opeth and Arch Enemy there.

Just going to bump this and say that it was a tremendous gig in Manchester on Sunday night. Definitely the loudest band I have ever seen (and probably will ever see) - I do not understand how people went to it without earplugs.

There was warning signs up all around the Apollo and they were giving out free earplugs - no sympathy really for the people with their hands over their ears during the 30 minute closer - You Made Me Realise.

    Absolutely stunning waves of noise!

Yep heed the warnings about earplugs guys if anyones headin to glasgow this week (did have tix but just shifted all 4).. caught them last sat in london, not as mindblowing as i thought, but definitely worth the ticket price and then some.

my god, that was the best gig of my life!
    no exaggeration...
but yes, to anyone going in glasgow, do wear your earplugs, especially if you're planning on being down the front. we were at the barrier down the front in front of kevin and a giant wall of speakers - i thought earplugs would be cheating - now everything sounds like i'm underwater. hmmm, though, if i could do it again, i still don't think i'd wear them! :o
by the way, did anyone else find bilinda dressed all pretty and girly a bit bizarre?!

Saw them in the Apollo on Sunday.
One of the greatest gigs I've ever seen.
    Visuals = cool.

Wore my stretchy Glider sweatshirt that I bought the last time they played in Ireland.
    Now have jogger's nipple.

Brought my own ear plugs which was just as well - the ones provided weren't as good. Not wearing any is crazy.
Ear plugs were offered at the SFX gig in 1992; not that many people availed of them.

    highlights from Sunday
    Cigarette In Your Bed
    You Never Should
    Soon
    Feed Me With Your Kiss.

The CHORD OF DEATH was 28 minutes long. Deadly.

Also saw The Fall in the Academy on Saturday night. Nice bonus.

    Stayed in Novotel, Dickinson St.

    Great city for record shopping.

The first of the Roundhouse gigs had a shorter "You Made Me Realise" (only 20 minutes of pure noise drone heaven). Utterly amazing gig. The loudest thing I've ever experienced (thankfully I brought my own earplugs). I can't really put into words how great it was.
