No no, I'm not available again, calm yourselves!

Seriously though, there'll be a girl from my gym entering the novice section of the submission championships next Saturday, and I thought that since female competitorship (is that a word?) at these event is sort of low, I'd let people know.

See from what I hear, girls, in general, don't compete because there's not a lot of girls to compete with. So I thought if I said that there will definitely be a girl there, that maybe it might start the ball rolling and a few others might decide to enter and there might be an all female division for once.

It's just a thought though, as she'll go into the men's if there's no women there but I know she'd prefer to compete against other women as would most women.

So, you know, eh, sisters unite! And all that! If you're a girl and want to compete then maybe you could register your interest here and that might get the ball rolling.

We could always set up a challenge match between female competitors if there was only another one.

We'd also allow the females to compete in the regular divisions (I won't say men's, because strictly speaking it's open) so they'd get a good run out.

    Hi Barry,

Olga Lyashevskaya from QUB BJJ will be entering the open u75kg intermediate, I'm sure she'd be up for an all-girls division :)

You never ask a girls weight or how much it cost to get her hair done:D

Lads I wouldn't dare guess the weight! I think it's u75kgs but it might be u68kgs and it would be in the novice category but the girl in question has been grappling about 8-10 months or so.

I suppose it would be up to the competitors and organisers whether they wanted one big girls open division or if they'd prefer to be in the regular divisions.

Well that's me in the bad books then! She was gone before I could ask her last night and I was going on her comp stats from before.

The Nationals have an Absoluto division, so I can't see why we can't have a Absoluto Femalo as well, provided everybody's happy with it?

It's always worrying when you get a text saying 'you have a thread about you on boards' and lo I have not been disappointed :)

Ah feck ya Barry my comp stats from before were 60.8 in February and 63 in April so I don't know where you're getting u75 kg from. Is this because I called you a fat jaffa-cake eating bastard the other night? Anyway, just back from holiday and will likely be at the low end of the u68 but probably not quite u62.

Anyways yep, happy to fight in whatever division, female absoluto or the ahem 'open' division :)

I have 4 sisters, a mother and a wife, you'd think I'd have learned never to enter into a discussion about weight. But no apparently not. Thought your comp was at -68!

Anyway, it would be nice if this worked out and there was a good girl's division. Then I could walk off into the sunset after a job well done, just like David Banner in the Hulk, or on a slightly more obscure note, like Jonathan from Highway to Heaven...
