    hey im about to lodge for the first time in pokerstars.. gonna lodge 40 € so about 60$.. i will mostly play heads up and 6 man s+g.. wats stakes shud i play.. dont say 1 or 2 dollars cos realistically that wont happen.. thinkin of playin 5$ games..

    And OP, you should deposit a bit more if you can and try to build up some kind of bankroll, play only when in the mood / not out of boredom/something to do etc or you more than likely will go busto, especially since your only putting $60 in and the variance in sng's is so great that you may go a few without cashing

    Its his first time depositing on the site and is only posting here since feb, so obviously a newbie

    so maybe explain it to him a little better then ???

    not everyone has the brain power you have:p or bankroll skills :p

    I seem to recall the op and other posters posting about Blazin Aces in Waterford and other poker tourneys so I assumed he wasn't a noob.

    No one has my bankroll skills because they are non existant.

    OP - I've seen you post here before so you are obviously not new to the game totally. However, you should realise that if you lodge $60 and play $5+.50 games then it is very likely you will go broke in your first 50 games if not 30 or so. To cash in 6 man sngs you need to finish in the top 2. If you are not familiar with the games and site then a lower figure is more likely. What is wrong with playing 100 or so $1 ones to get you used to the games? If you show a profit at these then play 100 or so at $2 and again if you show a decent profit for the investment then move up again. I don't particularly play sngs, but I do know they are very high variance, and even the 100 I am suggesting is extremely little.

    If you don't mind if yuu redeposit again in a couple of days if you lose it then go ahead, but if this is the case why not deposit $250 and give the $5 ones a proper go? There are people far better qualified to give advice on what you are planning to do than me, but it does not take a genius to predict that if you play underrolled and unprepared that you will lose your dough much quicker than you think. I have seen posts from sng specialists such as nicnicnic where they don't cash for relatively long streaks, and your 10 game bankroll (which is all $60 will get you at $5.50) could conceivably be gone in 10 games even if you experience a bad run from the start. Also, this is assuming that you are at least a somewhat competent player in the first place.

    Um wat. I was loling at Lukes Post above. Not the OP.

    I also was saying that he had made up his own mind regardless because he says in the OP that playing properly rolled isnt "realistic" and by not playin properly rolled you will go broke, simple really. I wasnt having a go, I wasn't being smug or cliquey at all.

    So what the OP did was make a thread asking what he should do while already having an ill thought out plan that he was in all liklihood going to follow regardless of the advice given.

    It wasn't the lol I was talking about. Either give advice or don't post in these type of threads, and I am not just referring to you. It is threads like these and the responses that make people think (rightly or wrongly) that this is an unfriendly place to new posters that don't already have 12 friends from their local club as posters here. I agree that the OP will almost certainly fail if he does things as he says in his post, but if people just laugh and post 'funny' comments, it is certainly not going to persuade him of anything.

    My point was, it wasnt going to persuade him of anything anyway, regardless of what was said.

    wow everybody.. thanx for the advice, got more than i expected to to be honest...prob will play 2$ s+g which gives me 30 buy ins so i think there is enough to cover the variance there.. at least while im startingoff anyway i can take a risk wit it... sure its ownly 40€ lol. n if i win a few i wil move up to 5$ when i have 200.
