Hi can anyone tell me how good this screen is especially if it is any comparable to Sony dual lamp displays?
Do XPS 1530 have LED screen or not? Are they usable outside or not? This is my biggest problem that is stopping me getting one, since I love Sony display…

I have a CCFL on mine and its still very visable outside, I the better LG screen and its on of the best laptop screens I have ever seen. The LED is supposed to look even better and the extra brightness would probably help with outdoor visibility..

Dell have LED versions of the 1280*800 and 1440*900 screens online at the minute. I think the 1920*1200 is still CCFL

I have the CCFL 1440x900, its a LG-made screen and is excellent, no complaints. When I ordered mine, the 1440x900 res was the best choice in terms of brightness (250nits, compared to 220nits on the 1280x800) and screen quality

The LED backlit screens are brighter still, and have lower power consumption. So they're an excellent option if you can afford it. Im not sure if they're available in this market yet though.

The only caveat with the M1530 screens is that they're all glossy.

^^ How did you find out if your screen is LG or Sumsung? I mean where can you see this information?

^^ Where in Device Manager? Is it under monitors?

I am on a different laptop right now (XP Pro) and all I can see is default monitor mentioned under Monitors. :(

    Monitor>Properties>Details>Hardware Id
Mine is LPLDF00, which is an LG Philips serial number.

None of the above are LED. Its not available on the M1530 in this market yet.

It'll say LED quite clearly when the option is available, but in any case, its a $150 option (on the US site), so you'll know it when you see it :)
