Played there on the morning of a wedding, maybe got 15 holes in or something, can't remember exactly.
It's a VERY picturesque course, was maintained very well at that time (April 2005)... interesting holes, good design, water in play etc etc...
I'd recommend it as worth a trip in it's own right anyway...
    Good luck.

    (1,000th post woo hoo!)

I used to live in a house up one of the mountains that look over the course. Unfortuantely I wasn't playing golf back then so didn't get to play it. I know a number of members and they all speak highly of it.

I think I'll have to give them a call and go for a round soon. Enjoy it!

Beautiful course, you will really enyoy it.I hope it's not too warm on the day for you because the course is down in a valley and can be very hot.

I would agree with whats been said above - a real gem of a course.

The course was effectively rebuilt/ extended after being washed away in Hurricane Charlie floods in 1985 and was improved out of all recognition in the process.

    Agree - nice scenic course - tight...watch the trees...greens good..pretty fast.

How to score well - keep drives straight.!! Good luck !

Played it in 1991 when it was a 9 hole.
I hear it's been extended to 18 since then.
The thing I can remember most about it is how pretty it was.
    Lovely part of the country.

played woodenbridge a couple of weeks ago. Have to say, a lovely course, a bit tight in spots. Not a big fan of over lapping fairways but that is just me. They have some really tough par 3 also.

I think they are doing a mon - thursday special rate also, well worth looking at.

I e-mailed them asking the rates for membership a couple of weeks back and heard no reply. Heard a rumour it's now at 8K which I find hard to believe. Cracking course and clubhouse!!

i am a member there but i dont know what the membership costs are off the top of my head.

it is a fantastic course and over the past year since the introduction of a new head greenskeeper the course has progressed a lot. there are also a lot of revamp plans in the works too (tee boxes etc etc) greens are in better condition and faster now that they have ever been! fairways getting narrower at around 280yards. new trees dotted around the course.

at the moment you dont want to be in the second cut of rough, its not too long but tough to get a clean strike as the ball nearly always sits down in it.

only 35mins by car from dundrum so dead handy location. also has a very good practise area / no driving range. the clubhouse is excellent standard although the colour of it isnt really my cup of tea.

Any chance you could find out what the current costs are Rick? Would be interesting to know.

ill be down there on friday morning for a round so ill have a chat with the membership secretary when im there and report back.

i know the yearly subs are in the region of 950euros a year and then 7euro for the sat competition. the 950euros includes a 150euro compulsary bar tab on card which gives you 10% of in bar and restaurant.

got the application form and its 12k that they are looking for. They have special deals for family membership... kids free until they are 26.. then they swap over to full membership for a nominal fee....

Won't get to play it for a while now unfortunately,

Got dropped off the team cos I couldn't get any time off work to go and practice the course before Saturday.

Anyone know if the course is in good nick or not. Does it suffer badly from downpours? I see it's on teetimes for €25 before 9am this Sunday, would be on for it but the price and the fact they're on teetimes concerns me. Don't remember seeing them there before, maybe they're just fooked...

Im a member there and the course has been in fantastic condtion all year. Played on Saturday and even after a week of heavy down pours it was great. We had the mens AGM on Saturday after the competition and the club finances are healthy after a massive outlay to repair flood damage from late 2009.
Membership and green fees have been reduced over the last few years as is only right in our current golfing climate.
If you're interested you should definitely go for a round, you won't be dissapointed.

A member in your club is the head green keeper or superintendent as they are now called.

    Played here today.

What a pleasure the place is. Beautiful on the eye, in super condition, greens fantastic and not a stupidly long course.

I'll be playing it as regular as I can next summer.

Definitely some of the best greens in country. Always like carpets.
