This is kind of embarrassing, I dont know if i should post it here or body mod.
My problem is that i have anxiety problems, but i really want to get a tattoo. It took me weeks to work up the courage to phone them to ask the opening hours.
Anyway i dont think i can phone them to ask anything more complicated.
I wanted to find out about the current waiting list for tattoo zoo in cork
I know its a long shot, but is there anyone who has made an appointment recently and knows the approximate waiting time.
I then need to work up the courage to go into them to make the appointment.
I do realy want the tattoo and i think it would be a pity if this stopped me.
Thanx for reading, I know its a long shot but if anyone could help i'd really appreciate it.

You need to call into what every studio you want to get it done in and see how you react to the place and the people there.

do you have a friend that could go in with you?

If you are finding it so hard to phone them, it is going to be even harder to have the tattoo done.

Bring someone with you for first visit and also for the visit for tattoo

Research you tattoo a lot, don't just go for anything popular - get something that has a special meaning to you.
Have a printed design ready if you can, the artist will then pretty much just recreate it on your skin.
Ask a friend to come with you and help you ask questions.
    Good luck!

they seem nice in there, all times vary so best thing is to call into them, i go to a place on kyle street called tribal inc, one of the best in the city. Trish is very good.

Ya, im going there because they're supposed to be good. I have my design and designed it myself. I wanted to know as much as possible before going in, like the waiting time, but when i ask on body mod they tell me to just phone, which is a logical reaction if you dont understand why i cant. :o

If you have anxiety issues at this stage, i'd recommend holding off until you can conquer this, as you will not be 100% confident in what you want, i.e. telling them what you want. You may come away disappointed and be p*ssed off you didnt pipe up about something you werent happy with

Its for life remember, you'll have to look at it until your dead, unless you get it removed.

Completely agree with Craichoe. If you suffer from such crippling anxiety you may not be assertive enough then to speak up if you are not entirely happy. You should go and talk to your GP about your anxiety first and possibly exploring CBT before going ahead with the tattoo.

You have a point about the possibility of not speaking up, But i have it drawn exactly as i want it, so im sure anything they would do to it would be to improve it. It may sound weird but i think making the appointment will be harder than getting the tattoo. Because once i get started with something i'm not quite as bad. I've always wanted a tattoo and anxiety has always held me back from doing things i want to do. Im trying to fight it. Not let it hold me down anymore. I've made 2 work related phone calls today so im proud :o It's an achievement for me. One of them wasnt even necessary. I want to make myself do things im scared of and hopefully fight it.

Yes, but Tattoo artists see themselves as just that, artists. The guy might say, well what if we change X/Y, I cant do that colour, maybe it would be better here or there, it might hurt alot in that area of the body etc. Do you think you'll be able to say .. NO .. I want it like X with Y here etc etc.

If you can, get a mate to come with you. My friend has a really big phobia of people touching her ears. A REALLY big phobia. She screams and cries and runs around in a panic and stuff. She asked me to come with her to get her ears pierced, like you, it was something she really really wanted, but she felt that if she arrived there alone she'd panic and run out the door. Luckily she had me well warned beforehand to stop her by any means possible. I literally had to block the stairs on more than one occaision. And then when she got inside the room I had to guard the door until the deed was done. Moral of the story? She now spends a good chunk of her weekly wages on earrings and is delighted with herself. Do it and good luck!
