if its kmireland then its a two day course.
km short courses are generally not stand alone, but part of the bigger system.
you will need to do lots more, so the real question should be is the cost worth the hours and quality of training.
there are some other km options around too.

Absolutely a complete waste of time and money in my humble opinion.

I mean, think of how much training you'd get in a good boxing, thai boxing or MMA club for that.

Quick fixes don't exist in martial arts, unless its pre 1993 and your learning BJJ.

    haha

    Peace

You'd train for 6-8 months for the same money. Unless you light your cuban cigars with €50 notes while sipping your 30 year old cognac, don't bother.

I'll let Fianna give his own explanation but this video may also be of assistance:

    I don't understand that?

It does not really a matter how good the course is or isn't. Do you think that 2 days training is sufficient to deal with a multiple opponents or an armed threat?

There are absolutely no guarantees with any training, there are only increases in probabilities. And in my opinion this takes a hell of a lot longer than a weekend.

However, what have you got to loose? It's a money back guarantee... So if you're not satisfied you can always get your cash back.

The other thing that should be pointed out, most of the guys here that train in KM advocate a consistent training regime, and state that any introductory course should always be followed up with post weekly classes.

€395 for a day's course  Jayus, these ' Krap' Maga fellas know how to rip people off :(

As Fianna says " Quick fixes don't exist in martial arts ". Better to join an MMA club and learn something that has been proven to work against fully resistant opponents in the UFC, Cage Rage, Ring of Truth etc than some allegedly deadly crap practiced against fully compliant 'attackers'.

The whole Krap Maga thing reminds me when I was a young fella and football magazines ,teenage comics etc used to carry Charles Atlas ads with - YOU TOO can have a BODY like MINE - ALL in JUST 6 WEEKS !!! ALL for JUST £xx !!!

At the end of the day they can charge what they like. People aren't forced to pay for them. If they can afford to pay it, well, they can afford to pay it no harm done. I'd take a couple of months of regular training over a weekend course 100 times out of a 100 but each to their own. They're supplying a service so it's difficult to put a price on it. Some bloke will come out and fix your leaky tap for 5o euro, another will charge you 200.

Agree with this big time. Fairly shocked at the price. You could get 6 months training in my club for that.

You'd get a years training in either of my clubs for that

Leaving style behind for a mo'.... and lets say you were into private lessons - You'd get a shedload of privates for that price, and with a good coach. CQC, Boxing, MT, KM, MMA, whatever ya' wanted...

OP its a marketing thing I imagine the e-mail offered you the course at haf price check out the website the is the course price then there are always discounts so you never pay that price.

If you go ahead and do the course It needs to be practiced as you need to follow up on it. Personally as someone who has been at loads of the weekends over a number of years, I would suggest that you go for the 12 week intro first. I just reckon people learn more over the loner time frame.

PM if you would like more info, I'm not training there at the moment due to other training committments, but if you follow up the training I recommend KM. I was with KM Ireland for the best part of 5 years. Hope this helps.

This is the latest email. I may have made a mistake about the times last time as I deleted the email by mistake. I am not pushing KM, but I see it is in Kilkenny in Sept which may be of interest to those outside Dublin . I see PC is a psychotherapist too, what is the connection to KM?

As I stated above the I trained there for a number of years first time I heard of the person describing themselves as a psychotherapist though. I'm away from there for over a year now so maybe he qulified as one. He had a hugh interest in psychology and was very big into NLP. To be fair to the person involved he is quite good at the psychological side of things. I just feel very strongly about who has the right to call themselves a psychotherapist.

I'm a psychotherapist too April it took me five years to qualify and to answer your question in a small way I think they are connected. There is the psychology of aggression, the impact of violence on individuals. I used to be part of a HSE that dealt with the psychological impact of assualts on health care workers. In some cases people may have to overcome hugh anxieties to in order to defend themselves even within a role play.

Edit: To be fair April would you mind editing the persons address from the post, I know personally I would not like it if someone posted my address on here.

    Hi April,

I've bee training in KM in Cork for a little over a year and absolutely love it. I did not do a beginners course but attended a couple of classes to see would I like it. Classes cost €10 per class (I think fairly reasonable for 1.5h class). A major part of the training focuses on mental and psychological development regarding stress, fear, aggression, intimidation etc.

It would be worth checking out www.kravmaga.ie. The instructor and club is a member of the IKMF or International Krav Maga Federation. He also runs beginners courses that I think are about €150.
