EDIT After reading all the (long!) sticky Perhaps this isn't the most appropriate forum for this question (not sure if I'd really consider it a support thread since I know whats wrong with the thing :( )so I'm posting again to the windows forum- feel free to delete this thread if inappropriate

    Hi
My laptop was very severely liquid damaged over the long weekend, at the minute trying to determine which of bad scenarios happened 1-somebody else was in the flat 2-my flat mates delibrately destrayed my laptop (damage does not look in anyway accidental, lid was still closed no nearby spillage etc) I have removed the hard drive (which appears to be dry), basically I was wondering what programs I would use to detect the last time that windows was opened (this would be when the hard drive is attached to another PC with something like this )
have been using winspy to take a look at the index.dat files on other pc (haven't got the hang of it yet)
still need to check the router logs though (just remembered about them)
ISP (NTL) weren't any help when I rang to ask about internet usage over the weekend. If any one can think of other things like these it would also be appreciated.

    Thanks for any help

liquid damaged with what? water? - it could be repaired (providing the battery wasn't kept in it for too long) - but i'm not suggesting you take it to the repair shop..

you will find information about when the computer was last used in the event logs.(unless they were modified)

The event logs are normally kept in the folder:

    %WINDIR%\system32\config

    could be C:\WINNT , C:\WINDOWS..etc

look for the *.evt files, then use the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools of control panel to open them.
    C:\>dir %WINDIR%\system32\config\*.evt
Volume in drive C has no label.
    Volume Serial Number is XXXX-1288

    Directory of C:\WINNT\system32\config

    06/05/2008 04:01 AM 2,228,224 AppEvent.Evt
    03/29/2008 06:00 AM 65,536 ODiag.evt
    04/24/2008 05:00 AM 65,536 OSession.evt
    06/05/2008 04:01 AM 7,929,856 SecEvent.Evt
    06/05/2008 04:01 AM 393,216 SysEvent.Evt
    5 File(s) 10,682,368 bytes
    0 Dir(s) 64,037,699,584 bytes free

you should ask in the windows forum, there could be better ways
