Thoughts Whedon / Cassaday's X-Men

Now that the Whedon / Cassaday teamup on Astonishing X-Men has FINALLY ended, what are peoples opinions on their run on the comic, specifically on their "Unstoppable" storyline that has just concluded?

I think the huge delays between issues really hurt the series. I'm going to have to re-read the whole thing from stratch, cause I'd start each issue having totally forgotten what happened in the previous one!

Overall, I thought that the art looked a hell of a lot better towards the start of the series (on "Gifted"), sometimes looking a little rushed in later issues. But overall it was very impressive and could often tell huge chunks of the story without any words at all.

I loved Whedons banter between the characters, but found the pacing erratic and the plot a little confusing at times (though it might be clearer when I read it again). Towards the end, the whole thing got quite jumbled and I found myself wondering how certain characters ended up in the locations they were in.

    Thoughts and/or opinions anyone?

I think I stopped reading after issue five or six... I don't know the reason.

Loved it at the start but it started to lose me.

I loved the first arc. Has to have been one of THE most amazing arcs I've ever read. The big reveal of it was kept secret so well, and left me staring slack-jawed at the page when it happened.

    Spoiler:
Colossus return for anyone who somehow hasn't read this arc

The "Danger" arc completely lost my interest. After the fact I've considered getting it in graphic novel format, since from what I've picked up here and there, it seems like it might have actually been a fine story. But when it was released I read maybe the first 2 parts and chucked it.

Picked it up again with the start of the current arc and I'm very impressed.

Honestly though I'm FAR more excited to see what Ellis does with the new Astonishing...
