Anyone know is there any decent tourneys on in Ennis during the week, preferably a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night?

Pub or club tourneys are fine, just don't want one that goes on until the early hours of the morning!

Thanks very much, what time does the tourney usually start and finish? And how can the cash games go on late if its a pub? May Kearneys was the old name.
Also are the cash games PL or NL, and are the stakes 1/2?

Sorry for the qusetions but I'll probably head in for the tourney anyway.

Usually starts at 9-9:30pm. TD doesn't know rules and structure is shockingly bad. Cash games vary from €20 Hold'Em SnGs to €5000 buy-in dealers choice.
(Expect 8 card omaha, southern cross and deuces wild Lol!)
Heard players complain about too much money been taken from pot and as a result numbers are down alot lately.

If ya wanna organise a proper tourney pm me as I have all the equipment and venue...just need interested players.

Do you think there would be any demand for a €100 freezeout in Ennis?

Saturday or Sunday one day event (long blind structure)....

Yes i believe that poker is totally unrepresented in large rural towns - i think some towns are crying out for a decent structured tourney - perhaps a saturday would be best - ennis is a large town so ya i would love to see a tourney like this in ennis and wish you the best of luck if you decide to go ahead with it

carfax there is a very strong demand for a €100 type f/o in ennis, limerick etc. since poker events stopped in thhis region nobody has filled the gap and it would make a change from going to the casino. If u were to hold a once a month u are guaranteed big nos. hopefully this is taken up

Carfax Please try to organise something soon for Ennis.
West County would prob be best venue due to its facilities.
Lots of professional dealers in the locality (Ex Vic, Fitzpatricks, Dillingers etc.)

I'd say at a conservative estimate you would get 70-80 runners.

If you need any help just pm me..

Absolutely. The Clare area is crying out for a decent regular tournament similar to the CPT or Big Slick ones that are run in Tipp.
If you advertise in pubs around Clare/Ennis, you will get a good turnout.
Probably a Sunday afternoon would be best for this, if it started around 3 or 4 in the day and finished around 12.
Even if you post it in boards, a crowd from Limerick or Galway might also travel for it.

I moved here to Ennis a few months back and just went along to the Barge Rooms once.

The structure was daft to say the least, after the break they doubled the blinds every 10mins. There was 6 of us at the final table and I think it was all over in less that 10 hands...

I've since been heading into the Fitz in Limerick for an occasional game so I'd welcome the chance to play a decent local game.

If you do go ahead with a monthly event I'd also push for an afternoon/evening start on Sundays.

Also if anyone is thinking of setting up an alternative weekly game let me know.

Bit more info would be helpful - buyins, blind structure, first night? etc

    Cheers

As it's the 1st night in this venue I'll let the players decide at what stakes they feel comfortable playing.
Structure must be forgiving but realistic as we gotta work within pub opening hours.
In my experience it takes a few weeks for the word to spread hence the s&g's. When numbers build we can think about a weekly €50 FO with a guarantee.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

Sounds good, I can't make it tonight but I'll be there next week and I'll probably bring a few lads with me. If its not going ahead, just stick a post onto this thread.
Fair play to you for organising it, hopefully it becomes a success, but no doubt it will as it sounds like you know the rules and how to sort out a structure for a decent pub game.

Did you get numbers for this Tuesday night? Any interest growing?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 427 ✭✭GKidd

Tuesday was a bit of a non- runner with only windsurfer showing up.
We did however play a €50 FO last night 8 handed.
I'm trying to secure this venue every Tuesday and will know for definite if this is possible this evening.

We then plan to blitz the place with posters (Bookies, interweb shops, addiction clinics etc.) and hope to get at least 3 tables by Tuesday.

When I know more I'll post as per charter (sorry mods).

Hi GKidd, sounds like a good pub tourney. Do you reckon you will get decent numbers tonight for this, just going by general feedback you're getting since last week? I'd like to come in to play this tonight.

The guys were very happy with last weeks game and couldn't understand why we weren't raking the sh1t out of the pot like other operaters in the area.
I didn't want to explain that calling a raise and re-raise all in with JKos was -EV and I would profit from their bad souls over the long run so didn't need to fleece the pot.
Instead I just shrugged and told them how much I love the game and would not seek to profit from it in an unethical way!!

But seriously, should get a few in tonight. Great venue, great value, dog ugly dealers..we got it all.

    Hi RK,

I headed down to the Library at around 8.20 last night but the place was closed?

Did it not open till later in the evening or what happened?

Are you running a game somewhere tonight?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 427 ✭✭GKidd

Most pubs in area closed due to Traveller Anniversary. Only found out at last min and txted all players in database..sorry if I left you out....Lol Ennisaments.
We've no game tonight but the barge rooms is on...
Also Limerick get good numbers on a Wednesday.

Hi Gkidd how is this Tuesday tourney doing now? Did the numbers improve over the last few weeks.
I gave a very poor show the night I came in; rivered a straight and pushed over your buddy's value bet of his house LOL!

Ya cheers, I have put that into the calendar as a "must-play". Big tournaments in Clare should attract good numbers, so fair play to the organisers on this one.
