well funtasia have a new water park in the industrial estate

it is beside the old thorsmans building, its all indoor, and i think its mainly aimed at kids but there are supposed to be a few adult slides. there was a feature in the Drogheda/mid Louth independent last week

My wife brought the kids up on Saturday morning, they had a great time. Great for kids and adults, she said there was a gang of lads in there 20's on the big slides, and loads of slides water cannons etc. for little ones. Only complaint was some of the staff went a bit power mad blowing their whistles all the time. Give an 18 year old a bit of power........

I've been there with the kids. Water is bloody cold. I was there during the day though. Maybe it's warmer in the evening. I agree with Dingatron about the whistle blowing. I'd prefer blanch meself...more to offer. They have slides there and you can have a swim if you wish...impossible in Drogheda.

Waterpark at Funtasia Drogheda is brilliant! We went at 7pm on Saturday evening, good time to go, not as busy. Great for kids and adults too. Faults:-
No hair dryers in operation....and thay could do with installing a clock on the wall inside, as you would then have an idea when your time is up. If you go over your time they start deducting money off of your deposit of 6 Euro. But a very enjoyable time to be enjoyed by all!

€15 (including deposit) per person for 1hour 20mins.

You have to be in and out within the 80minutes otherwise you will lose 15cent for every minute over the 80minutes...

So i think if your back to the front desk within the 80minutes you get the deposit of €7/8 back

Bloody hell i had a whole detailed passage entered on this subject for you.

    Bottom line is it's excellant.

it's not the waterpark at Agia Napa, but for Ireland it's the buisness.
Been to the NAC in Dublin and Lisburn leisureplex pool and this is easily the best of the three.
15 euro in for 80 mins, and if you are out on time a refund of 6 euro. If not then 15 cent a minute. A lot cheaper than the NAC. Get a Funtasia card and save 10%.
Been with my 5 year old 5 times and he loves it.
Water Water everywhere. "Samuel Taylor Coleridge"
Water cascades downwards everywhere. Slides for kids and adults alike including 2 tube rides single and double tubes down a funnel or double down a shute which ends going up a free fall wall then into a small pool.

Can't say enough good things about it

    Hope this helps
    Cuddly

They do not install clocks in the areas for good reason. I know, I used to work for the company.

If there is no clock, you tend to stay longer than you should have and you get charged more. Its a well known trick used by casinos (which they own too).
The properties that they also own elsewhere have absolutely no clock on the walls within them.
This goes for the gambling center in Lawrence St, Funtasia in Bettystown and their other new facility that they are building in Galway.

Just be aware of the watch/clock problem. its one they made deliberately.

just back from funtasia. Thought it was OK, first impression walking in is that it is excellent, but after 20 mins you realise it is not so big. we were walking around wondering where the swimming area was and if they had a wave pool, unfortunatly neither.

The slides are great, but my little one is a bit scared, so she only wanted to go on the small one.

The time constraint is a major drawback. You could easily slip over the time alotment, and then if you are not out it is 15c a minute. This means that when the kids need their hair dried at the end you are under pressure. The hairdryers cost money too and there was only 1 available today.

Still, for the hour we were in the water area, it was good fun. would not go back though.

Outside of the waterpark, the place is full of things to empty your pockets, chocoblock full of slot machines etc. The retaraunt was poor food and you had to wait 20 mions for 2 Qpounders, 2 chips and 1 chicken nugget meal.

all in all, I MUCH PREFERE THE nac AND WOULD NOT BE GOING BACK TO FUNTASIA.

Another thing, we had heard so much about funtasia bettystown, that we went to bettystown, only to find the bettystown one was not the one with the waterpark.

be aware that the dinosaur alive and the water park are in differnt places, one in bettystown, and the other in drogheda. we, and others we met were caught out by this.

Ain't been there myself but read this on another forum...
Anyone been up to this place?
Advertised as the biggest water park in Ireland?
Its indoor in an industrial park & has 2 decent water slides.. Hardly a water park.
You are charged by the hour ( plus allowed 20mins changing time) FFS come off it anywhere else in the world you pay for the day. You have to leave a deposit in case you run late. Which by the way you are charged by the Minute
Want to dry your hair afterwards you must pay to use the hair driers . Your kids are in the pool & you want to watch??
Anywhere else I have ever been this has been free of course... In Funtasia you pay as well. Spectators fee €1 & you must leave a €5 deposit.
Qeued for about 20 minutes to get in & then had to Que to get back out. What a joke.

I can't believe they charge you for the privilege of supervising your own kids in a water park!! That alone would keep me away!

The water park is mostly aimed at kids alright, but my OH doesn't mind "lending" me her 3 Y/O nephew every few weeks for a visit, So I can enjoy the water slides :D It's great fun alright!!

The rest of the complex is excellent too, Bowling, Rollerskating & tonnes of arcade games, plus there's the "Casino" part around the side of the main complex where you can throw loads of money into slot machines...
