Overdue library books--superfines?

Hey, just got an email from the library saying I've 2 overdue books. Thing is I wont be in Dublin for at least a week, and they wont let me renew them online now. Is there any way to get around having to pay overdue fines for the next week on 2 books? also, I'm presuming that superfines are still in place? This could potentially be very expensive. Any ideas??

1.50 a day during exam period and I think exam period ends on the 14th of June?

You have three options as far as I can see:

1.Ring them up and try and arrange something.

2.If no dice there ask could you post the books to them. Could be risky and they might not allow it.

    3. If you dont know any trinity students going up you could be cheeky and get someone else you know coming up to Dublin to swipe in with your student card and pay the fine (they dont ask for your ID card when your returning).

Not ideal solutions but aside from that I cant see any other way. Personally I probably just pay the 15-20 quid fine.

You will be liable for all fines until the books are returned. You can either return them yourself or get someone else to drop them into the Library for you. Posting them is an option but remember that you are responsible for the books until they are back in the Library so if they get lost in the post then you'll have to pay all the replacement fines.

This is stupid and unnecessary - anyone can return your books for you - there is no need for anyone to use your student card. It can incur a maximum penalty of €50 and exclusion from the Libray.

Its just another option, maybe sd is a risk taker? Maybe whoever he gets to return his books likes a challenge? He could even have an identical twin and they could try and pass themselves of as each other like they used to do in hit 90's sitcom sister sister?

God you work in a place filled with books, you'd think you would be a little more imaginative.;)

Extreme Book Returning? The locations might limit the sport slightly. It will never be as highly regarded as other Extreme Sports:

Another option is to hire someone to get it done at night:

Slight logistical question though - how can "anyone" return books for you when they need a student card to get in? I'm assuming saying "I'm just returning a book!" probably wouldn't get you past security (or shouldn't, given that for better or worse it's a student library only)

In the past I've just said to the person (in the Hamilton) that I'm just returning this book, and they've let me in. It might be easier there since they are right beside the desk.

Drop them into the Admissions Desk, Berkeley Library (just on the right after the entrance), or leave them with any Library Guard.
