Couple of Questions im hoping you might answer
    1. I'm looking to start pistol target shooting, is this legal here yet?
    2. I already do .22 rifle target shooting and am a licenced owner of a rifle, how much harder would it be to get a licence for a pistol? especially since it was so hard for me to get the .22 as i live in a notorious north dublin suburb.
    3. Is there any clubs or associations in dublin?

Any more info you can add yourself would be great

    Thanks in advance

    Pajo

    1. Yes it's legal
    2. Theoritically, not in the light of recent high court judgements, in reality, depends on Super. You will need to be a member of an authorised range, have 2 x safes, monotored alarm as a minimum.
    3. Someone else can fill in details re clubs in/near Dublin

It really depends on your local Super/FAO. Provided you holding a licence for a pistol does not endanger the peace/security of the public there shouldn't really be much of a reason to refuse you the licence. You will probably need to be a member of an authorised range, that seems to be a very common requirement from what I've read here.

Proving to the Super/FAO's satisfaction that holding the licence isn't a risk to the peace/public security could mean having a monitored alarm, multiple safes or any number of other conditions. I'd say get in touch with your FAO and they'll let you know roughly what to expect.

There are a few within easy enough reach of Dublin. Hilltop and Rathdrum are two that spring to mind. I'm sure that members of other clubs will turn up shortly and mention any ones that I've forgotten.

What kind of target shooting do you have in mind?
