Good to see the Strawberry Festival is on in Enniscorthy, this month.
Some good live bands this year, should be a bit of Craic!
Enniscorthy wouldn't be the same without it.

The Strawberry Fair just hasn't been the same since they put a road through the Abbey Square.

Well tw0nk I assume you think you could do better!
I think the small group atively involved in the Committee are doing an excellent job.

Its all free entertainment.... how much did you contribute lately?
Have you ever raised a penny for the Committee?

I'm from Enniscorthy and I'm ashamed of tw0nk attitude!

The Fair was great in the Abbey Square, but life moves on.
If you missed the Festival Ball last year, you missed a fantastic night...
bet you can't buy tickets this year, for love or money!

Enjoy the free entertainment and take pride in your Town

Haha , woah there RKQ! hold your horses, I said the site was rubbish and made no mention of any of the rest of your rant. If you want input from me I can take the content from your site and re-package it into a nice looking site no problem.

As for the festival itself, what you said there about the ball is grand and Im glad its doing well but it brings good craic to a tiny portion of the community. The festival for me and from my memories as a child was that it was for the whole community from children to the elderly. Now the festival is spread out in pockets throughout the town with live entertainment in the square which is great, but the carnival part is up at belfield.

When it was all down the prom it was great, people all wandering around seeing all the people they know and having a go at the games in the stalls etc.

This year for the festival I will probably go see some of the bands I know playing in the square and then more than likely have a few pints in the pub.

To finish off, I take pride in the elements of my town that deserve it, there are a lot of great people in the town but there a lot of scurges too, same as every town I suppose.

p.s. If you are on the committee, any chance of not having that sharky guy roaring down the mic every day for a week in the square!?

Sorry, I am not on the Committee.

I'm just a resident of Enniscorthy that admires the work of the Festival Committee. I think they do great work, on a tight budget. Its a thankless job.

As I travel around Ireland and the UK, I am constantly surprised at the number of people that know of the Strawberry Fair. It helped put Enniscorthy on the map.

Everyone is a expert but few make the grade. Why don't you join the Committee?
I enjoy the Festival, its great for all the family. The Town Council should allow more Traders to set up stalls, this is a market town.

I agree it was great in the Abbey Square but that way 20 years ago! Like it or loath it, life moves on. The N11 changed the town back then, maybe we should have insisted on a By-pass then!

Can you imagine a summer without the fair?
It nearly happen last summer and it would have been terrible.

Summer wouldn't be summer without the Strawberry Fair... Kids continue to have happy memories of it.

The Strawberry Festival Ball was held in the Riverside Hotel last night.
Champagne reception, Great crowd ( sold out ) Great fashion, great food lots of wine and great craic.
It will be hard to get tickets next year.... great night had by all!

Congrats to Strawberry Festival Committee and the Riverside Hotel.

East17 will now play on Sunday night (instead of Saturday night)

East17, THE East17? Now thats what I call a fall from grace

What a joke! Strawberry Fair is just an excuse for the drunks of the town to get drunker! Not that they need one. Look at the state of the square each night. Not to mention the promenade being blocked up with caravans. A total disgrace. A great excuse for anyone who lives there to get out of town for the weekend.

Sunday night was great. The Square was packed and the band were excellent. Everyone had a great time.

Its easy to knock the Fair. Negative smart comments are ten a penny.
    Apathy is so easy.

The Fair is free to all but it does cost money.
    €10,000 for the bands alone.....

East 17 were enjoyed by many. The Bailey had to turn people away. The band will play in Dublin, London or Enniscorthy as long as they get paid their fee. Just like any other band at any other venue or festival.

East 17 playing in Enniscorthy means nothing.

If you can do better join the Committee and meet weekly in the cold winter months. Give up your free time.

Now the town can be enjoyed by the Puritans that are so ashamed of their town, they'd rather socialise in some other town! Enjoy your boredom.

    hi there all
i think the festival was fantastic this year, gutted its over.
i also think the website is fantastic, yes its simple maybe, but all the information is on there, and is simple to navigate around.
maybe twonk could give reasons to why he thinks it is embarrassing to him,i live in enniscorthy myself, and i am quite proud we now have an official website to promote the festival as well as our beautiful town.

Maybe next years Strawberry Fair fund can be spent on a hotel room for gdclark and RKQ?

The Strawberry Festival is known all over Ireland. It costs a lot of money to run. This "free" music on the Square is enjoyed by young and old.

The Festival is run by Volunteers, that meet weekly in the winter months. They are not paid for their time and it seems a few would rather not thank them either.

Enniscorthy is a beautiful town. Be proud and get involved. New Volunteers are always welcome.

Its easy to knock and jeer anything, yet it can be difficult to achieve something.
Again Twonk, I ask " What have you done for Enniscorthy?"

The Festival was great this year. Well done to all involved.
    Roll on 2009.:D
