I'm looking at importing a car from the UK and came across AutoQuake via eBay, where they have some cars listed. Their prices seem very good and the cars are listed as being HPI cleared and Full Service History.

Just wondering has anyone dealt with them and what your impressions were.

    Thanks.

I remember talking to them before about a nearly new or pre-reg car, didn't go through with it but they seemed pretty genuine to me. Also I think I recall seeing an article on AutoExpress in the last week about them and some big deal they had signed, think they are setting themselves up in the 'nearly new' /pre-registered cars area. I would think an article in AutoExpress is probably a positive re a car dealer.

funny you should mention them, I was just looking at them yesterday on their website www.autoquake.com you can also find the auto express article there.

They seem to have very good prices and the info available on each car is refreshing. they list all the details, and include 30+ high quality photos of each car, including interior exterior wheels etc.

They even photo the v5 documentation and have a little map of each car showing condition, you put the mouse over anywhere there is a X and it shows the damage whether it be a scratch of loose panel in the dash ( which could probably be fixed by pushing it back in).

I'm realyl considering going over in July to to them to get a new car.

Their cars seem to be good value anyway. I hadn't heard of them but the website looks ok.

Just wondering if anyone has actually gone ahead and purchased from them?
I can't find any independent user feedback online. Am looking at heading over at the weekend - or sending the hubby to be more accurate :) and would really like to have some user feedback first.
    Thanks

Didn't buy off them at the time, but if it helps my abiding memory of them was good, and I'd have confidence in them, but guess thats the risk you take buying in the uk for the savings you make. As far as i remember they sell all nearly new/ex-demo stuff so if you can get a HPI check beforehand and get all the details you should be ok.

Thanks - we are taking the leap of faith, and hubby is travelling over today to buy the car we saw online. I will update this thread and let you know how we get on in the end.

We went ahead and bought the car from Autoquake. Husband was extremely happy with the car when he turned up to inspect. The description online was very accurate and mentioned the 2 minor scratches on the car. No nasty surprises. All the paperwork was present, and they insisted on taking the car away to put it through an MOT before they would hand the keys over.

Autoquake were very professional to deal with, however, they are extremely busy and getting them on the phone can prove hard. All in all, we would have no hesitation in dealing with them again.

We went for a 2.2L Honda Accord Executive. Full leather interior, sunroof, rear-parking sensors, all electrics - fully loaded in 'man speak' :) 75k miles on it. Worth about €20,000 here and we bought it for €7,200. Obviously VRT adds a bit on top, but this car is in the 20% VRT bracket, so that brought it to €11,000 all in.

That is a fair saving and well worth the trip alone, not to mention the good professional experience.

Accord diesels are good value second hand in the UK and I am toying with doing the same thing. Unfortunately though I have a car at the moment that I would need to shift first to finance a new one. I will probably wait until the second hand market here starts moving again.

I remember looking at that website a while back and thinking that it was too good to be true. The immense level of detail for each car really is confidence inspiring. Good to hear that they are as good to actually deal with.

Some Irish dealers could learn a lot from them.

    Well done!

I'm looking for a second-hand Accord with full leather too, but I've found that ones with leather are rarer on UK sites than they are on Carzone. I've also found that it's quite difficult on most sites to search based on specific options such as leather or sat nav.

That's because all Irish Accords had full leather, as they were all Executive spec

As already mentioned, up to 2006 the diesel Accord was only ever sold here in one trim - Executive. From 2007 the diesel was also available in Sport trim which had half leather seats.

UK Accords had the diesel version available with numerous trim levels - SE, Sport and Executive. I think Sat Nav was an optional extra on all Accords in the UK.

Most UK Accord with leather came in black or grey lwhere as Irish Accords with leather came in beige.

Are you sure he saved that much? It sounds alot to me?

He paid 12000 sterling,at the time the rate was very good , and 5500 euro VRT. To buy the same car in Ireland would cost you from 27000 to 32000 euro.
