Just some shots from the enthrawling game at the Brandywell in Derry, where Cork City FC came from 2-0 down, to win 2-3, with only two minutes of normal time remaining.
    It was an incredible night.

Some very good photos there. Great result for Cork, and a brilliant 3rd goal.

Nice weather helped too, I'm sure.

This one's a complete gem, captures the story of the match - the ecstasy and the disbelief! So many sports photographs don't capture any
element of the story at all, they're just bog standard images that could be from any day, any game. This one would look more than at home on the front page of any quality broadsheet sports supplement. I was going to cite The Guardian as an example, but maybe they wouldn't be big in to Derry v Cork. :)

    Congratulations, a brilliant capture.

I watched this match in Madigan's in O' Connell street.
    Excellent sport photos as usual.

A few of you who know me will realise how difficult it was for me to concentrate, when we had just stolen the game, at the death. A few years ago, I'd have forgotten to take pictures.

Very nice shots !! are these from the 300mm f2.8 prime ?

    a beast of a lens !!!

what do you think of getting a 2x extender for my 70-200 f2.8 L IS ?

it will be 400mm but f5,6 ? still not a bad aperture at 400mm ??

What do you intend to shoot & where?
You wouldn't get away with F/5.6 under floodlights.
Paulw was planning to go nuts with his extenders this weekend.
    He'll know more.

I spent yesterday shooting wildlife. I was using 300mm f/2.8. I then used it in combination with my extenders.

I have both the Canon 1.4x TC and the 2x TC.

Using the 2x TC, making the lens 600mm f/5.6 made it slow. Slow to focus, slow to track focus, and the images were still not brilliant. It would be fine for still subjects, but certainly not good for fast movement.

Using the 1.4x TC, making it 420 f/4 was good. Speed was fine, focus was fine, and the images were good. It even got to a stage where I actually forgot I still had the 1.4x TC still on the lens.

It really depends what you are going to photograph. I would certainly consider using the 1.4x TC for sport and such, but wouldn't use the 2x TC.

    Just my view.
