Just to give me an indicator on where people on here would prefer to go for the next round of the league.

Where should round 3 of the league take place on August 16th? 15 votes

neither one, north dublin would be wayyyyy better haha, what about leisure point in finglas, its the IJA national training centre, and a huge hall...

I live in Dublin so Maynooth is much closer and easier to get to. But i don't have a huge preference for either as carlow-bypass route to kilkenny is quick too. I think I'll attend regardless of location.

Already an event in Dublin in November/December, the north side is no longer on the table.

:pkilkenny is the place to have it get all the dublin lads down here and see how they travel and fight :p

Maynooth is a hole, whereas Kilkenny is a decent city with some nice women. It's also populated by short lads who think a checked shirt is high fashion, so a crowd of East and West coast MMA poets could do well.

Such things don't motivate me of course, but I support my comrades in arms.

Can we not all put this very simple choice into perspective?

Kilkenny is a Centre for Traditional Values, Traditional Music and Traditionally gangs of Debaucherous Drunken Women out on Hens Nights!

Maynooth I would confidently argue would be as much fun as a weekend up Brokeback Mountain.

Can we all tick the correct box here please?

It should be held in Kilkenny. Maynooth is for all intents and purposes a Dublin suburb. The League has always had a national feel to it and I think having two "Dublin" events would detract from this. Kilkenny is within easy striking distace of all the major clubs, I'd say there'd be record numbers ....... Plus... What Clive said! :D

I say Kilkenny also, I have family there that might be nice enough to put up with me for the weekend for free!:p

I voted for Maynooth but reflecting on it i'd say Kilkenny is better for the League and for me.

Anyone who votes for Maynooth over Kilkenny is thinking about travel and that's it. Anyone who wants to go to a single MMA League from Dublin can go to UCD.

Kilkenny offers opportunities to spread the good word and get us Dubs out for a weekend.

Well which MMA club is bigger and more organised? Kilkenny or Maynooth. I thought there was more ppl in maynooth doing mma. could be wrong.

I voted Kilkenny. Tis only up the road from me and it's a great craic there for a few pints afterwards.

Going to close this poll at the end of today and announce the resulting venue for the league on Monday, so people will have plenty time to plan for whichever venue we use.

I agree Dublin has plenty of MMA events thanks to John K. the MMA league will more than likely have be back in Dublin for Round 4 in Nov-Dec at UCD. The rest of the regions competitors shouldn't have to drive 2-3 hours to compete at every venue.

    so is it in kilkenny???

The poll is now closed. I am taking the weekend to think it over and weigh other factors like cost and catchment area. At this time the count is 13-18 in favor of Kilkenny. A late rally but Kilkenny appears to have clinched it, I am sure in no way related to any background canvasing for it :)

I'd also like to propose using this thread as the basis for the title of the event:

MMA League Kilkenny: Where do you want it?

    :D

O'Laughlin Gaels used to let Paul Cummins/Kilkenny Top Pro run Kickboxing shows there so maybe they'll be open for having an MMA event in there as well.

I was talking to paul about it, He said it'd prob be better in canices hall cos they don't really mind if u run over the time and prob wont charge you, but o laughlins are fairly strict on it

Ok. I didn't know that part. I figured since some of KKTP were members of the club [I believe one of the girls was doing the waitressing for my uncle post funeral reception last Sunday] there wouldn't have been a problem.

I thought the poll was supposed to be locked? What time tomorrow should we expect to here the results?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,477 ✭✭✭✭Raze_them_all

    it's not a problem but a cheaper soloution :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,987 ✭✭✭JohnMc1

    So what's the news?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭mark.leonard

Round Three will be Taking place in Kilkenny on the 16th of August. Venue is TBC, but plan your weekend away now! Given the amount of Stags and Hens that travel to Kilkenny it might be worth the time booking accomodation right away.

    that's great
