Don't know how well it works but the superchips site is a good source of info. I think that a superchips remap doesn't invalidate a VW warranty. You can also chip a car to be more economical instead of more powerful.

    http://www.superchips.co.uk/models.php?model=ALL&make=38&fueltype=2

most of the economy gains come from being able to change up the gears earlier which keeps the revs low, this is good for economy if not especially good for the engine.

Economy will depend on the Map also. Depending on how well the Chip is mapped it can lean out the engine a little at low loads and remove extra fuel manufacturers use as a safety buffer.

Manufacturers map for the worst case and are often factor in low quality fuels/ high or low altitudes/Environmental temperatures(high and low) /Various emission laws requiring different things.

Each car is different contact an owners club. They will have done this to death and will be able to recommend who has the best maps.

Is that the same 6 cylinder engine as the A4/A6/Passat etc?
Ed in www.turbotech.ie mapped mine quite a few friends cars, he's based in Bray. Depending on your throttle pedal it should cost €3-400.

2.5 tdi is a straight 5cyl. Its actually half (one bank) of the V10 tdi.
