    Hi,

I have the last week of June off and we were planning on going down to Clare for a quiet holiday in a family members mobile home. But to spend 7 nights there might be a bit much. So we've decided to stop somewhere for a night or two on the way, or an hour or two drive away. Any suggestions? Preferably a city or town as we'll have all the peace and quiet we need in clare.

    Thanks

obviously depends where you are travelling from but galway city is only about an hours drive from clare and that town is buzzing especially now with all the upcoming festivals like race-week, arts week etc

Yep, thats true - sorry, coming from Kildare.

I've only ever been in galway once and loved it. That was only a few weeks ago though.

    Thanks

Lisdoonvarna and Doolin, in Clare itself, can be good for music. Search first to see what is on when you are travelling.
One place I always wanted to visit was "The Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Foundation".

Might be worth a day trip or an overnight stay.

    Whats wrong with Clare

you just need to know where to go.

Doolin is always worth a drop by. Lisdoonvarna im not sure if ive ever been in it though i probably have. And Lahinch and Ennistymon are worth going through.

But if Clare is too much to blow your mind, then Kerry is great sightseeing. If you want peace and quiet it has to be Kerry actually. Its so remote along the coastline there its almost surreal. In fact, if you have the time, go to the kerry coast.

Nooooooo absolutely nothing wrong with Clare, one of my best weekend hol memories is in Kilkee. What I'm worried about is spending 6 nights in a mobile home with my OH. :p

I only found out yesterday that you can get a ferry to Kerry!! So will be doing that, we're planning on hiring bikes in the burren and I think we will defo check out the Dolphin & wildlife foundation.

    Thanks a lot!!
