Trouble with wireless on Kubuntu

Hi, I don't know much about OSs other than Windows, but I downloaded a Kubuntu release and tried running it live from the CD. It looked cool and stuffs, but it wouldn't pick up a wireless connection, which is vital for me. Do I need to put my wifi card's driver on a usb stick and then install it or something, or was it…

Hi,
I don't know much about OSs other than Windows, but I downloaded a Kubuntu release and tried running it live from the CD. It looked cool and stuffs, but it wouldn't pick up a wireless connection, which is vital for me.

Do I need to put my wifi card's driver on a usb stick and then install it or something, or was it because I was running it from the disk?

First and foremost. Before you even installed Ubuntu.
Did you check if your wireless card is supported under Linux?
If so, you will need the Linux driver for your chipset.
Else, the card isn't supported natively by Linux, so you will
need to use a binary wrapper like NDISwrapper.
