I need help on how to colour a scanned drawing with Corel Painter 10

I have some scanned drawings and I would like to know how to colour them in Corel Painter 10 and add different effects but somehow I just cant get my head around how to use layers and what brushes to use in the program. Does anyone know of any websites where I can get info on this?
