ISS are not using HAM equipment at the moment due to work load.

You will hear the packet radio sigs on 145.825MHz.

it does cover the required freq select PB and around the 145 mark what part of the country are you in so we can try and get you near the freq.

looks like that has a built in aerial so dont expect much tbh

a typical iss pass might last only 10mins and if the have the repeater turned off as the do most times you will hear nothing.

it passed about 200km south of Ireland just over 1hr ago for about 5mins but by the looks of things on NASA tv they were up to their eyes......3-4 hours into a spacewalk.

I'd say the best time to hear them would be the weekend (sunday being the non-working day onboard)? I'm sure someone knows more than me and could set us straight

    www.stoff.pl

    Download Orbitron.

Great for WX sats, ISS, watching irdium flares, Amsats etc.

For a scout Jamborie on the air I put orbitron on wall via projector (like NASA) with UI off and full screen and had my car dual band rig in scout hut with the mag mount on corrigated roof and on cue as the "footprint" of Oscar51 came over we heard the chatter on the radio.
(customise the world map to make it pretty).

Sorry, to answer your question yes you will hear ISS when they are operational even with a small rubber duck antenna on a hand held.

But at the moment, they are not on voice, but the packet radio is on 145.825MHz FM.

So it's above the Cork repeater frequency..

Have a listen tonight, the passes are very good..

Stand out site, if there's no cloud and look to the West for a very bright star moving across the sky..

    Here's tonight's local time;

    21:59pm
    23:35pm

    Hope this helps..

BTW I have spoken to the MIR space station several times back in 1996, I think I still have the mp3 of the recording..

experimenter: quite a bit of sensor dust there :P

FYI during times of work on ISS, i.e spacewalks, docking or any other safety critical operations the ham equipment is turned of on board. But it is generally turned back on when the work is completed.

They never have the voice and the packet on at the same time. It alternates between em.

For the packet side of things, you can check this site and see the times of the last recieved station. At the minute its been 43 days since anything was heard.
    That means
    A) the voice system is on
    B) everything is off due to work

I haven't checked NASA TV for a while so im not sure.
