ive just got a venus fly trap and im wondering about watering it.

I have it sitting on a sunny window sill and using rainwater to water it. The leaflet that came with it sas it should always be in 5cm of water. However on numerous gardening sites it says to not over water it.

So does any one have any experiance on how to look after one?

    cheers

They don't like to be over-watered, thats true, moist constantly, but not soaking.
Perhaps the 5cm of water refers to a reservoir of water for humidity purposes.
You see pot plants that like humidity often are placed on a tray filled with pebble which is kept topped up with water to just below the top of the stones.
This water although not accessible by the roots will cause a humid haze around the plant, just as it likes it.
This could be what your label meant to say.
