Macbook superdrive problems

    Hello all,

The superdrive on my macbook is giving me a spot of bother these days.
It seems to have difficulty reading after a certain point, for example: when installing(same with ripping CD's), it gets halfway (usually) and just stops and starts to wind down the drive, and it whirs and whins like it trying to read but cant, If you leave for 1/2 hour or put it too sleep and wake it up again, its seems to carry on. Definitely not normal behavior!
Its not just one disc...its on all the discs so definitely a drive problem.
Cleaned the laser with a cleaning kit, but no difference.
Also has difficultly burning sometimes, it burns but cannot verify the disc.

    Any help much appreciated.

How old is your macbook? Is it still in warranty? Applecare?

I can't imagine it being anything but a hardware problem. In which case there's not much you can do I'm afraid.
