    Ok been messing about with my firsts DSLR which i picked up in Japan and would love some feedback. Been following quite a few threads on here and am amazed at the quality of work so anything you can throw my way would be appreciated.

    Picked out a few of my favorites....

    The beautiful canal...

    Self-gratifying Graffiti

    Tried a long exposure shot in the Iveagh Gardens
    Iveagh%20Fountain1.jpg?imgmax=640

    Pagoda

    Ferris Wheel - high ISO so it's a bit grainy
    IMG_1199.jpg?imgmax=640

    Emperors Garden - tried messing about with the dof a bit (book in hand to check what dof actually meant :) )
    IMG_0366.jpg?imgmax=640

    My attempt at a HDR image - I think it's a bit heavy on the PS-ing myself but others seem to like it.

    now, like a pack of wild dogs...... rip them to shreds:)

    Aye, i'd agree. First photo is an absolutely great picture.
    Pagoda and ferris wheel have a lot of empty space in them, which I think draws attention away from the amazing detail in the pagoda especially.

    Ha, thanks. Initially thought it was ruining the shot but it kinda makes it :)

    Thanks for the compliments Sean

    amazing detail is putting it lightly - i have no idea how long it took them to build. Thanks for comments

    here's a different one;

    and the entrance to the pagoda;

    I like those two a lot :) maybe with the second do a slight rotate and crop, to bring the top of the entrance into line? just looks a slight bit off to me.

    You have a very interesting style in terms of composition.
    it had me looking at most of these shots for quite a while...which can only be a good thing eh? :D

    1st: Great shot, i would possibly be tempted to crop the right hand side though, letting the tree frame the image a little more.

    2nd : fairly bog standard graffiti shot....nice sense of humour though

    3rd: Good attempt at something i really struggle with, the water looks good but the fence is a bit distracting.

    4th: I like the composition here, the sky is a little burnt out i suppose but for me the empty space only makes you appreciate the shape of the pagoda

    5th: I really like this. Maybe a little step back, or less focal lenght though would have caught a wee bit more of the whell, and in turn causing the building to be a wee bit more distracting?

    6th: Probably my least favourite of the lot, nice depth of field but it seems a little caught between a macro shot and a wider shot of a tree.

    7th: Lovely colours, nice image altogether although the top right corner is a bit distracting....and it made me think back to maths class in my school days....ugh!

    Special mention to the shot with the bike in it, cracker!

    Thanks, some good advice. As for #7 - never even noticed the foliage in the top right! I'll do a job on that. I'll straighten the bike shot too.

    Cheers
    Dan
