Beginning Muay Thai

    Hi,

I am interested in starting Muay Thai at the bridgestone gym but I'm not sure whether these things should stop me...

    1. I have never trained in any other martial art or self defence
    2. My fitness levels aren't too great

Should either of these things put me off a beginners class at bridgestone?

Does anyone know what initial training is all about?

    Thanks in advance

these should not stop you, you'll get fit while learning-there is a beginners class before you got to the fighters class as far as i know!

From the website it says beginners 7-8 Monday to Thursday. Is it possible to just turn up at any one of these ?

    Thanks

    Hi,

No worries plenty of people have started with no experience and low fitness. Thats what the beginners class is for. Beginners can start any of the classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, 7pm to 8.15pm. Get down about 10 or 15 mins before 7pm to be ready to kick off at 7pm.

Beginners class is mainly basic techniques, padwork, bagwork, clinchwork, some light sparring, mainly technique more than all out sparring. The heavy sparring and other fun stuff you come into contact with when you move through to the fighters class, and you can train 7 days a week if you are a fighter.

Classes are 7euro a class or 65euro for a full month.

Hope to see to down and you can judge for youself. Tshirt and a pair of shorts is all you need to kick off.

    Regards,
    Paul.

Me. :D I was overweight and totally unfit starting in Bridgestone.

I'd suggest letting whoever's running the class know that it's your first night. They can get run through the basics with you then (stance, basic punching, etc.) or they can get someone from the fighters class to do it.

    Good luck!
