Problem with Laptop

I got a bit of a problem with my new Dell XPS M1530
When I plug it in there seems to be a slight electrical charge on the aluminimum finish around the keybard/touchpad. It usually feels like a static buzz when I touch it but sometimes it gives a very slight electric shock.
Anyone else have this problem? It's getting a bit irritating.

Cheers

I don't have it with our M1330 but is a common reported problem. See the web for details.

Yea, after reading up on it, it's a common problem alright. Apparently it's because the power adaptor is two pin rather than 3pin. It just requires a change of the power adaptor to 3 pin. Unfortunatly Dell don't seem to be treating it as a fault becuase it's a common problem with all electrical applicances, which means the customer has to pay to replace it
What complete bull.
How it is acceptable to produce a laptop that shocks the user?

Last time I checked they were sending people out free ones for this. I think voodoo got one for free. Try getting in contact with them, you may have just gotten someone who didn't know these were being given out for free.

I noticed the problem alright, but laziness prevented me from getting a new adaptor :pac: Strangely, I can't say I notice it anymore

But yeah, they were sending out free replacement adaptors to anyone who requested them last time I checked, so you should be sorted Jimbo. If they try and bill you for it, I would just argue with whoever is on the phone until they give up and send you the free one :)

My M1530 zaps me the odd time...

But I think the cause is the opposite... I'm grounding myself through the chassis, and Zapping myself with my own static electricity.

My Vostro had a similar problem, i could feel a little charge at the middle front of it. Told dell, and they (after some battling) replaced it. Mine had a graphics card which they "dont ship anymore" so the upgraded me to the 1510 (after some battling again). Not as good a GFX card, but its notibly lighter and thinner.

The havnt collected the "faulty" one yet, shhh

Just an update on this.

I recieved a new adaptor and lead form Dell a couple of days after emailing them. No problem whatsoever. Laptop working fine now. Kudos to Dell

Which email id you mail them to? I am having the same problem.

The power cord has 3 pin but from there its going as a 2 pin in the adapter. Is this the problem? Should the adapter be a three pin as well?
