Water Well Pump - Pressure tank leaking

Just noticed the pressure tank on our well water pump is leaking (fine but strong mist) from the face of the unit, near the fittings but not actually the fittings themselves. It looks like it was welded repaired previously. The pump seems fine, but is running continuously to keep the pressure up.

Anyone know what the story is with getting another pressure tank in the Meath, Dublin area? It doesnt look too complicated either, so perhaps its a DIY job (if I can find a new pressure tank).

When you buy a new Vessel don't get a steel one get a fibreglass one, like http://www.globalwatersolutions.com/ctlight.htm

ALso get a larger Vessel as then the pump won't need to kick in as often

For now I patched the tiny crack with fiberglass (car body repair kit), a lot of it. Seems ok...

Digging my own thread up. The recent cold weather caused the tank to leak again and the pump (Lowari BGM5) was coming every 10seconds, dont know how long it was like that, maybe overnight. I went out and bought a slightly larger new one which is factory pressurised to 1.5Bar . I also bought new fittings including the flexi hose as it had lots of rust like deposits inside it.

All connected up to my Water Softener (installed that 6mths ago) but it just wont pressurise!

The Pressure Gauge on the pump doesnt budge from 0PSI.
I disconnected the softener and let the output from the T Junction at the pressure tank hang freely. Water did come out (not very fast, like out of a normal garden hose). When I capped it with my hand I could see the Pressure needle slowly rise.
Reconnect the Softener and the needle drops back and the pump continues to run (left it for 1.5hrs). I doesnt power cycle, it just stays on.

Is the pump dead... it sounds ok?
Is there some soft of vapour lock in the Softener (I can blow through the water input no problem however)?

The pump was dead. With lots of help from Athboy Energy Supplies I was able to replace part by part, ended up with new pump and pressure tank (much bigger one) and various fittings to fit the 1.25" pipe to a 1" pump insert.

The previous installer shrunk and warped the plastic pipe to force it in as opposed dropping down the size with fittings.

I now think I need to look at a sediment filter, Ive reason to believe its what ultimately killed the previous pump.
