Alternative Firefox Embedded Video Plug-in to WMP?

Embedded videos in Firefox via the WMP plugin have never worked for me, always get a codec error. And the Quicktime plugin won't install because I don't have XP SP2 (refuse to go near it, SP1 is much much faster).

Are there any other plugins for Firefox that I can use as alternatives to play embedded videos?

Have you tried installing SP3 to see if it's any better?

Give VLC (videolan.org) a try and do a full install, not just recommended.

There are so many known vulnerabilities in Windows XP SP1 at this stage it's not funny. Any script kiddie could gain complete control of your computer with ease, regardless of firewalls and whatever else. You are mad not to keep Windows up to date - not just for security, but also as you are experiencing no one supports SP1 any more.
