Signing on now but have a job lined up for July

    Hi all,

I have just got a really good job but the contract doesn't start until the middle of July. I have just applied for the dole until then but was wondering should I tell the dole office that I have the job lined up or just play dumb until the job begins?

My experience of the dole office here in Cork has been shocking. The first time I signed on two years ago I had nothing but abuse from those caged psychotic animals or staff as they are known at the dole office.

A friend told me to ask for a letter for my Community Welfare Officer (CWO) so that I could be paid while waiting for my claim to go through but the person I dealt with at the dole office told me that they don't give out letters anymore and that I would just have to go to my CWO to sort something out as "you'll get nothing until your claim goes through here".
Is this the case or will I just be sent back to the dole office to ask for a letter?

    Regards,

Hi, op. RE; the job and dole - let your claim be processed and once you start your job all you'll have to do is ring the social welfare office and they will sign you off, they will ask you what date your job starts and sign you off.

While your waiting for the claim to go through, call the CWO, you'll probably need an appointment to see them and ask if you need a letter + explain what you were told in the dole office.

Best of luck with the claim and new job!
