Just got the DVR after having the really old NTL box(pace??), just have a question regarding what used to be the browse function. With the new box it only appears to show whats on now and whats on next in the browse function - is this correct , with the old box i could see what was going to be on for the day with out having to go into the guide?

    Thanks

Yeah, that's correct. The new guide stays on the channel you are watching now though. I actually prefer the new guide to the old browse feature.

That instruction guide isnt working for me - the pdf loads but its just empty. Is there a way to record full programs that have already started? Say for instance I turn on a film half way through - is there a way to record this full film and not just from the point where I turned it on?

Is there anyway to not record the ads or is there a way to remove the ads once i have recorded a programme.

And also is anyone elses reception slightly worse the old box?

Sorry about all the questions! but i cant find much info on this

Weird that link works for me. Go to UPC.ie and in the Q+A box to the right side of main page you'll see "what is digital TV?" click that link, then you'll see a link for "Manuals for digital TV boxes" click it and you'll see the link for the DVR manual. If it still doesn't work you may have a problem your end.
When you hit record it only records from that point. It won't take into account what it's already buffered of that program. The buffer is only for the function of rewinding "live TV". You'll have up to 150 minutes buffered if the box has been on that channel for some time.So if you wanted to watch a program after missing the start you can just hit the rewind button.Every time you change channel the buffer resets itself.
No way of not recording the adverts nor removing them. The only thing that comes near is setting chapter marks. You can do this by pressing the green button but only while watching a pre-recorded program. Only real use here is if you're going to watch that recording again and want to skip parts via the chapter marks.
As for the reception, if you mean the digital picture from the box I personally find it much better then previous models. Find it far better on fast moving action.Tended to suffer from slight pixelation around moving objects on a constant background but can't fault the picture I'm getting now.

That sucks, my TiVo is clever enough to record from the start of the show if it is in the buffer.

It looks like the UPC DVR has a long way to go and now Sky are going to greatly improve their HD DVR with a nice looking new interface.
