The Essence of Trinity?

As a run-on from this thread:
    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055302801

It turns out that I do now have the task of portraying Trinity via 10-20 photos of its buildings/people.

I was wondering what do YOU think represents Trinity? Drinking in front of the Pav on a sunny day? Meandering around the BLU? Playing some tennis in Botany Bay (don't know how I'd be able to get photos of that happening!) ? Or something else? I'm all ears if anyone wants to contribute something (I have a few ideas in mind already).

Any buildings/activities/people you would really like to see featured? Long room (doubt I'd be able to get permission though), Campanile, GMB, Mooseum, Banana trees, Sports Hall, Law school (go us ;) ), pre-fab computer rooms, glory holes? Obviously serious suggestions preferable to glory hole ones. If there's any buildings you wouldn't want included then I'd like to hear that too.

I'm just worried that since exams are nearly over a lot of college activity will now stop - does anyone know if croquet/rugby/cricket etc. is still being played?

As of today, there were still cricket games being played. As for what typifies college to me:

    cricket green and rugby pitch.
    New square.
    Museum building.
    Campanile.

Also gives a good array from the academic to the social :)

    The Traditional
    Bit late, but Trinity Monday
    The Museum Building
    The Dining Hall/Commons
    Cobbles
Looking down over a packed Morrison in the Berkeley

    The Social
    Front Square from House 6
    College Park/Pav
    <snip>
    Physics Garden

    The Optimistic/Future
    The Ussher
    The Naughton
    Goldsmith Sky Tunnel
    Laser Huts

I'd say front square from regents house, rather dude. Better picture. As for last part, looking down the naughton with all the glass and trees would be a good shot :)

Some really good suggestions all - what about for good student shots (I took a few today - some poor students were already stressed about exams and this random dude comes up to them with a tripod and asks to take their picture!)

The Museum/Banana building was closed today - is that just because it's Saturday? The lecture theatres will all re-open on Tuesday right?

Getting permission to take pictures in the gym...fingers crossed for that! (Climbing wall, swimming pool or weights section would be interesting I would think).

I've got - students resting/studying on cricket fields, student at computer (in 24 hour comp room), student looking at Naughton exhibition, student climbing Hamilton steps, blurry students entering Berkeley library etc.

I was thinking that next time I'll go for student in Pav and in Buttery? Any other student activities that will occur in the next week that ought to be included?

though not quite for students, I'd really suggest the Senior Common room if you can get permission (though it shouldn't be too hard), you walk in and just get the feeling you're in Trinity, especially looking out over Front Square and the Campanile

I know google will probably be faster but where is the Senior Common room? Obviously overlooking front square somewhere?

Above the Dining Hall. Nice place.

How about a photograph of some airhead talking on her mobile phone in the library right next to a sign saying you cant use your phone in the library. That captures the essence quite nicely.

Or how about a picture of a librarian posting on boards while a student waits to be served?:p

Getting permission for gym photos is usually difficult because of privacy issues. The only way around it is to get signatures on model release forms from everyone in your photos, but that's assumng you get permission in the first place from DUCAC.

As for college events, Fresher's week is always a good photo op (if your work isn't due before then). And, as suggested before, some formal procession would be cool (Trinity Monday, commencements, etc.).

We're getting model release forms anyway... although it's only necessary for clearly identifiable people e.g. a swimmer wearing goggles and a cap probably isn't very identifiable (of course I'd get oral permission to take his photo first though!)

I suspect there's only a few days before this is due so I'm heading in today to shoot a bit more.

Is that the name of that courtyard place? It's one of my favourite places in Trinity. I love the apple blossom tree, pity you couldn't take a picture of it when its in bloom.

I remember seeing that every day walking to the law school - looks like a really tranquail place to relax.

    Here's a few that I've taken recently:

Still haven't really found a good picture of the Hamilton yet :( (and it's been raining the days I've gone into Trinity).

Hamilton...try going up onto a different floor and shoot people milling around beneath you? That might be a nice 'people watching' shot?
Sexy photos from the pharmacy school:

The first one looks like an addicts fantasy! What kinds of drugs are kept in there? Is it an actual licensed pharmacy?

People milling about idea (from Hamilton steps I'd reckon) would be good if there were still lots of students around but it looks like empty corridors all the time in the hamilton (and the arts block too... a bit of student activity in the libraries though).

In that lab, we formulate drugs from the raw materials, so we have just about everything in there. We work with everything, e.g cocaine. The more dangerous drugs aren't left out in the lab though.
Oh, one more thing. In certain cases, you don't have to have a licence to buy drugs- one of those cases is if you're an university which uses the drugs for educational and training purposes.

    n37302266_30609111_2900.jpg

Got syphilis? Gonorrhoea? Some mean acne? You're in the right place!

    n37302266_30609112_3202.jpg

    n37302266_30609115_4131.jpg

This is an example of what would be in one of the lockers in the lab.

    n37302266_30609119_5366.jpg

And here's the lab itself, far quieter than usual. It's mayhem during the practicals.

We really should have an 'insider's view of trinity' photo thread...
