Didnt fancy the early start or the Celine Dion traffic at Dalymount so headed to a Ladies Cricket Game in Sydney Parade, never shot at a cricket game before, usually too busy getting out for ducks and dropping catches, let me know what you think!

Good effort for your first time.
I like the angle on the 3rd.

I always suspected the ball kept low at Sydney Parade. Your shots are proof ;)

    Good timing on the 1st

Good timing with the 1st and 2nd, and the 3rd has the best angle.

    Lovely photos.

    Good shots.
The third is my favourite too.
It's a pity those green structures are behind the players. Find them a bit distracting.

    3rd is the best angle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,459 ✭✭✭Dodgykeeper

Yes the third angle is the best but it was beside the clubhouse and as i had the two kids with me the wide open spaces on the other side were the only practible options, the green structures in the back are the covers and dont find them distracting at all maybe as they are a part of so many cricket pictures!

Lovely shots! From my limited experience, i have found it nearly impossible to shoot the action at the pitch and then follow the ball to the outfield just in case there's a brilliant catch being taken... Is it actually possible, or am I just slow?

a few weeks back I tried a cricket shots (my first sports photos) and man all I can say is fantastic photos, great action - my fav is number 3.
Number 1 is excellent so, those balls move bloody fast

What lens did you use? (I see from flickr it was 2.8f at 300mm?)

AnimalRights, I think there's a place in Dublin called The Hills where there's quite a few cricket pitches there and they have a few games on during the weekend. Ireland will also be playing a few games there in July.

    Folks,

There are quite a few cricket clubs around Dublin. Main clusters are 3 in Sandymount, 2 in the Phoenix Park and a gaggle out in the North County area.

Sandyford CC have a Google Earth of most grounds around Ireland. http://www.sandyfordcc.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1
