    wow......

    "No Royal Treatment Here

Kathy Liebert and Jan Von Halle to her right were just involved in a hand in which Liebert checked the river and Von Halle checked behind. Sure, this isn't too big of a deal, but Von Halle checked behind with a royal flush.

As soon as the hands were turned over, Andy Black, Joe Seebok, and Amnon Filippi all jumped from their seats and yelled for the floor to come over. Von Halle was given a warning for collusion as he checked the absolute nuts last to act on the river.

The other players at the table chuckled, but all understand the seriousness that can ensue. The tournament directors that came to the table didn't find this a laughing matter at all."

Jan Von Halle = Katja Thater's other half BTW, apparantly a proker pro too. Never heard of him before this evening when I saw his name in her wikipedia entry.

    Common sense my arse...........

    From pokernews.com upsates:

    " A Min-Raise or a Max-Raise? "

After several players had limped in, including Jamie Gold, a middle-position player announced "raise" and tossed in a single 5,000 denomination orange chip into the pot without making a verbal declaration of the amount of the raise. As the players at the table as well as the dealer disagreed whether his action should be ruled a min-raise or a max-raise (in this case the max would be 4,800 as it's pot-limit) the floor was called over.

The player's action was declared to be a minimum raise, though the majority of the table disagreed with the ruling, as typically when a player bets with an oversized chip without declaring the amount of the raise, the bet stands at the amount of that chip.

Jamie Gold called the minimum raise and the two players went to the flop, where Gold check-folded to a bet.

"You just cost me 1,200. You'd better not do that again" seethed Gold, who was left with only 3,100 after the hand.

Pretty bad form to play like that even against your other half. Just bet and then give her a wink which you have already agreed on being a fold. That way its perfectly legit.....

Also according to the text Juanda had a Royal as well but it wasn't mentioned that he had it only that all five royals were diamonds two royals already would be a bit much!

Yeah he does a lot of blogging/writing for the German media. I have no idea how the man pulled a bird like Katja. It wasn't for his looks OR his personality.

    FYI.

Kathy Liebert was in the hand vs Jan Von Halle

Katja Thater is Jan Von Halle's other half, re-read the original post.

wtf has her looks got to do with anything?

She's a f**king good pro, 60 cashes and multiple wsop final tables.

She a poker player, shes not claiming to be a model

Did i read somewhere that in the WSOP if you check the nuts on the river it's a 20 minute penalty? Anyone know what the TD did here?

A royal flush is the nuts, right??

Pokerkingsni, I'd say your not too far off the mark there with the time penalty.

In other news, Harrah's in their esteemed wisdom only outdone by their swollen coffers and stupidity have spent a fortune on high spec electronics such as plasmas, projectors, etc for the tournament. Only for the clock that they are using to be running faster than it should resulting in 64 minutes of Harrah's time for each blind level in the tournament as opposed to 60 minutes of real time. Apparantly some innocent on-looking spectator type bloke spotted the error when he timed the levels against his watch.

first some gossip then the hand: ivey is taking bets at 1.8:1 that he wins a bracelet this year. Andy Bloch has 180k on it, ted forrest has 500, eli elezra (who was sitting next to me and told me this directly) has 500k on it too. i heard Greg Raymer took action but im not sure of the amount.

i keep raising the full potsize preflop (important because we are playing pot limit) and when i do it vs negreanu's blind, before folding he tells me im raising too big and that i should make it smaller.

he asks "is that what you would do in no limit?"
gabe: "i dont play no limit"
dn: "well what do you play?"
gabe:" i dont really play poker, my parents just paid for me to play this"
    dn:"oooh you got rich parents?"
    gabe:"yea they are well off"
    dn: "real estate??"
    gabe:"yup"

then he leaned to guy next to him and whispers something right after this conversation, which im sure was about me but not sure what he said.

a few hands later he minraises, i call with ATo on button, old nit in blind calls. i have been splashing around alot and they have both been pretty tight.

flop T45, checked to me i bet 2/3 of the pot, old guy check raises me, i call.

turn K, he bets a little more than half, i call. i thought about folding because this was over an hour in and hadnt seen the guy raise anything.

river 4, he checks which makes me pretty sure i have the best hand, although he could have jacks. i bet the pot (remember i almost folded the turn, now im making a huge value bet), old guy calls and shows QT.

hand doesnt seem like too much ownage but getting value from an OLD GUY when i have 2nd pair is pretty sick imo.

BUT main point is while im collecting chips, negreanu makes eye contact and gives me a little head nod type of thing because he was watching the hand closely. i also talked to him some about the canadian football league and even got him to say 'atta boy!!' the first time i didnt raise full pot on his big blind

Its pretty obvious to me that Nenad Medic gained so much confidence from knocking me out of the FTOPS event that he is now on a sick heater inspired by the confidence he gained by knocking out such a high profile player as me. gg Medic
