A good way of getting into gigs for free is to join one of the voluntary ambulance services..

You will have to do some work but you will probably get to see a fair part of the concerts..

The website for one of them is:

St. John Ambulance, Cork City First Aid and Ambulance Unit.

That should give you an idea whats involved..

Order of Malta, Red Cross, and St. John Ambulance all operate in Dublin and cover gigs and concerts..

www.orderofmalta.ie, www.redcross.ie and www.sja.ie are worth looking at as well.

its very difficult to get press passes to these things you ussally have to be employed my a majour newspaper to even be concidered...

the reason they only stay 3-4 songs is that they have the pics they need and are off to get them to the pappers for next day issues...

and melekalikimaka... i dont meet the public at the gigs i have my own portocabin.. lol

Just e-mail one of the local support bands. They will get ya photo pass. Easy.
As for first aid people just there to watch a gig... bad buzz.

Who the hell are you, OP?

If somebody seriously joins an Ambulance Service to get into gigs free, youre an idiot. Im in the Order Of Malta myself, just wondering who you are so I can remind myself to never do a duty with you.

Ive done a fair amount of concert duties myself, and ive ever seen about 20 minutes of a band.

EDIT: By reading your other posts, im guessing you're a member of the St Johns Service. Im sorry but if this is a way of recruiting members you have really sunk to a new low.

Hey Guys Interesting Thread, Actually how could one get press passes... would it be hard to get working as security for e.g Aiken Promotions?

If you're there to work then it's work and you don't get to enjoy like you would if you were a paying customer so why not just buy tickets and enjoy the gig?

you can get pretty good press passes on the ko shan road in bangkok for about 4 euro....i assume they're the same as to what are used over here.

to get one of the big concerts you would have to have a national press pass... joined the union and be pritty much full time for a national newspaper... its not as easy as they say above.. also "somtimes they might ask for cash for photos" might!!

also true i havent fully enjoyed a gig and allways worried my kit will go down and am allways checking it and looking after it and when problums start you could loose a hour of a band

saying that im sort of not working tonight so ill be able to head out into the crowd ;)
