    Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any company that buys second hand computers from large business and sells them off as refurbished models. I have to replace over 30 computers and would like to sell off the old stuff first.

    Model
    Dell Optiplex gx280
    Pentium 4
    40GB HDD
    1GB Ram
    Dell 17" TFT

Sorry if this post is in the wrong section.

Offer them for sale to your employees for knockdown prices...

It'll save you the cost of refurbishment, and of disposal.

Job uses Gx260's with similar spec.... and we're moving premises so chances are a bunch of 'em will come up for sale.

I would suggest you either have the hard-drives professionally destroyed or go at them with a hammer before letting them go.

The last thing you want is a media ****-storm if there's data-leaks.

I'd love to take 5 of them, for an ongoing Medical Training program.

I will pay you cash or paypal for the 5 for our project.

    Thanks.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Thanks for all the feedback and offers.

I will be selling these computers in stages so for the people who PM'd me I will get back to you with an idea of price and timeline.

There is a lot of red tape in selling off company equipment so it will probably take a while to get everything sorted out as I am very busy at the moment.

I also intend to give some celeron machines to charity / schools

    I will keep you posted.

    Hi

Gan I put my name in the hat for the youth group ones.
A few would go to great use in an afterschool youth group who currently fight over one :)

I can supply details of the group if needed.

    Many thanks

Be very careful with the Dell Optiplex gx280 they had a lot of problems with bad caps on the motherboard. If you are buying them pop the case off and look for bad caps.

    dellcaps.jpg

The caps are the round things like small batteries. If they are bad they will be swollen and sometimes stuff coming out of them. The amount of motherboards I changed on this model was crazy!!.

    That does not look healthy.

We've given dozens of machines to primary schools - they'll happily take that spec...

If interested I will take all at €50 each and collect.

    Cheers, Joe
