Problem with 'Scope

    Hi Folks,

Just a quick query. I recently picked up a rifle and scope second-hand for a very reasonable price. The scope is a Nikko Stirling 32x Variable zoom. But whenever I zoom in around 8x and up, the image becomes very greeny and hazy. The scope is crystal clear with no magnification, though. Im mainly a sillhouette shooter, so its not that bad, but I do shoot a bit of paper the odd time, and of course a fuzzy scope is a bit of a disadvantage:P Its not worthwhile for me to fork out a fotrune on buying a new scope, yet, so I was wondering if it was possible to get one repaired? Changing the gas in the scope or something?

    Any help is much appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Alan

Is there a parallax adjustment or focus on the scope.

What are the exact specs of the scope?

sorry, have been doing a bit of shopping and I misnamed my scope:P its a Nikko Stirling 4-32x -44. It has a parallax adjustment, but no fiddling with it removes the greenness on the viewer. Apologies for my lack of knowledge, im very new to the sport:)

    Cheers,

    Alan

I know bullets off here had a nikko stirling and that too was a poor scope. I wouldn't touch one after looking through his one. Fuzzy reticle and yellow green glare no matter how you fiddled with it.

High magnification is tough to do well on scopes so getting a budget scope with high magnification is something I'd never do myself.

He bought a different scope so I wouldn't know how to fix it. Get someone more experienced with scopes to have a look through it. If they agree then take it back to where you bought it and see can the shop owner help you.

Zoomed optics are very difficult to get right. Mostly you get what you pay for. With all the additional lenses involved in zooming, they really need to be top notch not to darken it down too much. IMHO, the kind of zoom on that scope is far too much for it and it collapses when it has to work harder.

Sometimes you're better with a smaller zoom range (if any at all).
