Hi there, I seriously need help!

My brother has just informed me that he has to hand up a port folio for his wood work project by 11am tomorrow and he hasn't even started! My parents are away and I'm doing the Leaving cert myself so I haven't a lot of time to help him.:( I got the structure of the project from examinations.ie-
    Analysis of Brief
    Investigation/Research
    Design Ideas/Solution
    Sketches/Working Drawings
    Evaluation

I need to know how long it has to be and what points are necessary to put in the analysis of brief, investigation, design ideas etc.

Can anyone help me, help my eejit of a brother?!

For the analysis, you are analysing the brief so depending on which project he chose to do these can differ but some are key.

Make a list of questions for example:

    What size should it be?
Would rounded edges be safer? (childs toy)
    What finish would it need?
Do I have necessary skills to complete project?

Then write a page answering these questions for example :
The toy should be painted bright attractive colours to catch the attention of a child. Non-toxic paint and varnish must be used, as children often place toys in their mouths. This can be harmful if leaded or other toxic finishes are used.
    Try and bulk it up!
Investigation and research, you are investigating what you could do, researching different types of wood etc. Again, make a list of Questions / bullet points.
What type of wood should I use?
How can I make the storage feature? (hall table)
How much time will it take? Do I have that time? (obviously your bro hadn't  )
Will it fit the intended purpose?
What similar Hall tables exist? Can I improve on them?

You then answer these questions and say how you looked in magazines, shops the internet etc. etc. to see ideas. How you went to the Builders Providers to look at different types of wood etc. For eg.

The toy should be easily moved, upstairs downstairs, in the car etc. I hope to incorporate a special carry handle to carry the toy. OR the table will need to blend in with the furniture in the room, this is why I have chosen Beech etc bla bla bla

    Development of design Ideas :
You will need 3 design ideas, the second should improve slightly on the first, the third should be better than the second until you came up with your final solution. Include lots of sketches here and state why you didn't like such a feature and what you did to improve on it in your second drawing. You should include a Front elevation and end view for your final solution and include some dimensions. For each one state the advantages/Disadvantages.

    Manufacture of chosen design:
From start to finish, what you did, how you did it. Sketches.

    Evaluation:
How did it turn out, did it fit the brief, what were you happy with what would you change about it? Include a photo or two here if you have it.

    Tools used:
I'm not sure if this part is compulsory but it fills space, Sketch and name each of the tools you used and if you want you can write a paragraph on each!

I think thats it, hope it helped in some way.

Oh... and give your bro a kick up the hole for leaving it this late!!:)
