I did a test with SGS 2 weeks ago and this was my route
    • Out of test centre towards town
    • Left at Dublin Road roundabout
    • Right at Statestreet roundabout into Loughboy
    • Right at Lidl roundabout
    • Down past McDonalds to Patricks Church
    • Left at church roundabout down College road
    • Right at Old Callan road junction with college road
    • Left into Dean Kavanagh Place
    • Reverse around corner at Dean Kavanagh + hand signals
    • After reverse, go straight through estate to Circular road
    • Left at Circular road to College road
    • Back up College road and right into Ashurst
    • Turnabout in Ashurst
    • Right onto College road and right at Patricks Church.
    • Left into Jacob Street
    • Right at Upper Patrick street
    • Straight down the Waterford Road and left onto Nuncio road
    • Straight up to Castle road and right onto the Bennettsbridge road
    • Hill start on Blackquarry Hill opposite Texaco
    • Left at Bennettsbridge Road roundabout and back to the test centre

Very easy for me as I live on that side of town. It was over very quickly, it only took 25 mins and the tester (and inspector  ) were very nice.

I've a map of the route and I've marked where you do the maneouvres. Sorry for how rough it is, I've no mouse at the moment.

Thank you so much Nightwish...wasn't expecting such a detailed response! You've been extremely helpful...better start practising that route! Cheers :)

    Hello,
Excellent work on the map and directions! How did you remember that?!?!?
I've my test in Kilkenny in a couple of weks and I'm hoping to get a copy of the test routes and practice them myself rather than spending a fortune on lessons.
Are there official maps available or (can I beg?) do you have any other rough Google Maps that I could get?
    Owe ya a pint.
    Brendan

jeez Nightwish you have some memory. All I remember from doing mine in Naas is that I went down the main st in both directions and went past a school on a narrow laneway at closing time (nightmare!!!).
Oh yeah, and the bank was being filled with money at the time so there was a lane closed on the main st!!!

If you already see one on another post in this forum, you should have posted there, rather than begining a new thread.

It was only 3 weeks ago, and I was scared stiff so its something I don't think I'll ever forget it.

With regards to the routes around KK, there is a route that goes right at the Dublin road roundabout and over the Johnswell road area with a turnabout at Beechlawns, reverse around the corner at Garringreen and hill start at Ballybough st (its not even a hill!). There is another I'm aware of, with the reverse at Newpark close, turnabout at Beechlawns and hill start at Maudlin st hill.

Don't rely on routes as the tester can deviate at any time. Practise driving the whole town.

I don't know if SGS use them but the RSA do test routes through Loughbouy. This was mine:

Turn left out of test centre
    Turn left at first roundabout
Take left exit off roundabout onto Dublin Road
Third exit off Dublin Road roundabout
    Straight at Bennetsbridge roundabout
    Third exit at next roundabout
Carry on straight and take right turn past Supervalu
Near the very end of this road I did my reverse around a corner, beside the Scouts Den
Did my hill start here also
Then took two right turns into one of the housing estates and did my turnabout
Came out of housing estate and went back up to Supervalu and turned right
Turned right at roundabout by Lidl
Carried on to McDonalds were I veered left down the narrow road by John of Gods
    Turned right at traffic lights
Turned left off Ormonde Road to Patrick Street
Carried on straight the whole way to Johns Street
Turn right at roundabout by train station and back to test centre
