I sold me 350D today, and was plannin on gettin the 40D

But now im not so sure what to get

Specs wise they seem the same

the only relevants differences i noticed is the 40D has the higher frame rate, and goes to 3200 ISO [although not proper 3200 apparently]

where as the 450D has a lower FPS value, but a higher MP value, and goes up to 1600

    what to dooo????

If you're basing it on MP i would forget about that 6mp is a good resolution anything over is good if you're gonna be printing posters
    40D is alot better
    Has better build quaility
bigger than the 450D feels better in the hand
    Supposed to handle noise well

On the other hand 450D has live view

If i was you id go for the 40D but that only cos im used to 5fps and could'nt live with less,You need to ask yourself which do you need more:Live view and higher mp Or 6.5 fps and better build quaility

I'd go for the 40D. Better build, larger body, fps, buffer, AF, etc. Loads of good reasons.

Get both in front of you , and the 40D will win every time ! It just handles so much better.

the 40d also has live view.. just press the set button. 40d is a fantastic camera. its feels better in your hand, looks better and has al be it limited weather sealing .. the frame rate even the noise it makes is better.

It's actually quite good. I've shot at ISO 3200 before, and had images at that used in the papers. So, it's not bad.

ISO 800 is fine, and I'd use that at many night floodlit games. ISO 1600 is a bit worse, but acceptable.

I'll see if I can find some images on my flickr with those high settings.

I got a 450D recently and am quite pleased with it. I've seen it referred to on one review site as a '40D lite'. The Live View, whichever one you go for, is very useful.:)

I'd be inclined to say 40D.

It will be a better, more capable body to keep with you as you progress along.

Nothing wrong with the 450D, I'm sure, but I'd be a firm advocate of getting the best you can. It will pay dividends.

I know by that rationale, I should have bought a 5D instead of the 30D I did buy lately, but I'm a raw beginner, not an upgrader like yourself :)

That, and I have an OH who knows the price of, and the value of everything.
