Call your insurance company and ask them if there are any courses which if you successfully completed they'd lower your insurance?

If you are with Hibernian you can get approx. 30% off by being in the Institute of Advanced Motorists. http://www.iam.org.uk/fleetirelandabout/Contact+details.htm

    tough enough test

The seven major insurance companies of Ireland are so convinced in the importance and effectiveness of this programme that they are prepared to refund 100% of the course fee against the driver’s first year’s motor insurance premium.
think this would also reduce second year's insurance.

Edit: just noticed you're from donegal. think these are only in wicklow. Sorry.

That's the advanced driving course that has nothing really to do with Hibernian, they will give you a discount if you have it done though, most people who who that course are the Gardai, Ambulance Drivers, Bus drivers etc.

Hibernian have a course called Ignition also. If you have a full licence less than 5 years, and drive a car 1600cc or less you can get discount from 20% up to 50%.

Ignition is €100 to do, you get the money back wheither or not you pass or fail. It's got an 85% pass rate, you can do the course in Letterkenny.

It's handy enough, the test was reduced from a 1 day course to 1 hour, you can do it on a Saturday, and it's nothing like the driving test, you can book it in the morning and do it after lunch.
