Problem with Text (photoshop cs2)

hi, im trying to add text to an image but it just wont work, the text isnt coming up at all, and ive no idea whats wrong. its the first time ive had problem with the text function. anyone any ideas? edit- Nevermind, i found a way around it.

What kind of image is it/was it?

a jpeg.
text would work at all. i had to open a blank image and do all the text there, then copy and paste.
