Haven't visited this forum for yonks, but I thought I'd let you know (this being the classics forum where people like this sort of thing), that Halfords are selling their Professional 150piece socket set for half price at the moment. They do it alot, but I bought one on Tuesday and it's the business. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive ratchets, extensions, sockets in both metric and imperial (oh yes) torx sockets (o.k., a real classic wouldn't need them maybe), set of metric ring spanners, 3 ratchet ring spanners (how did I live without them), deep sockets, two plug sockets and various other gubbins and widgets. How much? €149, down from €310, but it's probably cost €400-€500 if you bought it all seperately.
Best of all, it's got a lifetime guarantee, so if it breaks bring it back and have it replaced.
Que the "I prefer Snap On, Mac, Facom, Teng, Britool comments".:) For the money however, it's amazingly solid feeling and well finished. I don't work for Halfords by the way. It's just that I'm dead chuffed with it:) Genuine value for money. That's not something you get alot of in Ireland these days.

    Indeed.

Nothing beats a good toolkit though. I've a Teng Tool toolkit (cost me €500, but it's worth it). I do however have a few of Halfords brand tools, and their of just good quality me thinks.

I use a halfords toolkit (the one that comes in a case) for work and haven't been let down. I don't use them all the time however. Some of the fitters laugh at the name but the kit is so comprehensive some of them have had to ask me if they can use tools out of it. The case is starting to show wear tho. Still, its paid for itself by now.

Some of the Halfords tools have a lifetime guarantee too.
