A Drinkers prayer for the Holy Spirit

Oh God grant me some calm,
a balm, a salve a lotion,
To soothe my shattered,
nerves being tattered,
By powder pill and potion.

Though Christ might cede me some peace,
a lease on easy notion,
For I am a pit,
of dread thats lit,
In dizzying commotion.

So Holy Ghost,
Third of the host,
Mysterious and pure,
Don't conflagrate,
Upon my pate,
But pour me off a cure.


First thing I have written in 25 years, any opinions?

I liked it quite lot Very nice rhythm to it and good clear imagery. The reader is left with no doubt or confusion as to what your getting at. Very much like the last line showing the drinkers view of the salvation they're looking for, like hair of the dog

Just curious, did you use a thesaurus for some of the stuff in that? Conflagrate, pate? Had to look those up myself lol.

Lets have a line says Frankenstein,
For all we monsters be,
Might fond,
Of powder blonde,
In the hours wee.
