I heard some rumors about some sort of airsoft mortor coming to ireland.
anyone know how this would work.
personally i think it would be useless as the wind would spread all the pellets miles away from eachother anyone here anything about this

I built one a couple of months back that used 40mm grenades. It worked alright using King Arms slug grenades but the range, accuracy and wind effect on the round rendered it useless for anything other than looking at. I never even thought to try shower shot in it as I couldn't twig a way to sight in the shots. Truth be told, it worked more like a small artillery piece with the breech-feed I cnc'd for it.

The new one is supposed to have a gas tank in it, which begs the question, what exactly does it fire. There are M203 "rockets" and the ever popular nerf balls, but I get the impression it's going to fire bb's.

Either way, I'm not getting my hopes up. Having now had an airsoft mortar in action, unless they do something radical, I can't see it being of any use to even the most Gucci airsofter.

what about a tornado with the 1.5 second fuse ? I read that post on airsoft news , and it struck me that if you could launch one of them and have it "burst" mid air ,it might work.

edit : you'd probably need longer than the 1.5 second fuse actually.
that mortor if it worked , would be fanf**kingtastic in the cqb oz

that would work but you cant use explosives of any sort ireland unless you had a licence plus it would have health and safety all over the site it was used on

i wasn't suggesting explosives of any description sir . i was more talking about delivering the "payload " than getting the "warhead" in the air.

The Tornado grenade is from Airsoft Innovations, it's gas powered and reusable. Not a pyro.

The idea of launching the grenade is fine, the problem is you then get a shower of inaccurate bbs and a large, heavy falling gas grenade. That's a serious safety issue and I doubt is any good for the grenade. I also can't see a way you could launch such a heavy unit short of CO2 under high pressure.

He means the fuse on the Tornado grenade, time the grenade for airburst using the in built fuse, IE set the timer on it.

i am assuming they are not pyro haha but i wouldnt say the granades get shot up either it would prob work the same as a granade launcher that you strap to your gun but if it does work like that then it would be completly useless

it was just a thought , i'm sure finer minds than mine can come up with better solutions.

Just a rumour, but I hear its to lob a nerf like grenade, that when the tip of the nerf hits the ground the grenade goes off with 2-300 BBs,(on the bounce) the nerf (thingy) is made of foam with plastic (to hold the BBs) and alloy in side for the gas with a rubber tip.

Now don't quote me, as a good mate in the US told me last week, he's an engineer. But I cant find the info anywhere???????

Zoxna are still in trials so may be a few months yet.
Will just have to wait and see.
And weather its deemed as legal in Ireland is yet to be seen.
